hello all, i have a 2009 silverado crew cab and since the summer ive noticed every so often the rear passenger side speaker does not work. I have not been able to find any sort of relation to each incident in which it has not worked. When it does go out, it'll go out for days, even up to a couple weeks. I haven't had the time to take the door panel off to see if maybe there is a loose connection there, or if it is in the dash. i wasnt sure if this is recurring issue with GM trucks (like the EVAP solenoid)

racerx520,

Did you mention this to your local dealer? I would be happy to look into this for you on my end if you would like. Feel free to contact me privately with the last eight of your VIN for more assistance. Thank you.

I have not mentioned to my local dealer because my truck is no longer under bumper to bumper warranty. My local dealer was not much help last time i had an issue, which was the EVAP solenoid, which from my research has been trouble since atleast 2003.

Common problem

do you know what the usual solution is? i've seen some people say if you replace the speaker it solves the issue, and others saying the issue is in the head unit.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the info....i guess when i get a little scratch this summer i'll have to start changing out my audio components to Alpine, always had a thing for them since i redid my 87 T/A with all alpine stuff and alpine subs....thank for the info, i'm actually a little relieved it isnt problem with the stereo itself

You need to test the speaker. Chances are the speaker is blown. I had an intermittent speaker so I put a new one in and it worked great. Have fun installing a new one, gm decided to put the door speakers in a special mount. They also used a special connector. If I remember correctly it is hard to test the speaker because of the design of where the plug goes.

There is a thread here where someone reused the mount it looked good too.

Yep, it's most likely the speaker. Had speaker problems in my previous two trucks. I've already replaced the speakers in my 2012 because I figured it was just a matter of time - and probably a short time - before I started having problems with one or more of the factory speakers.

thanks guys for all the info, i'll have to replace these then. and tanked darren, your link didn't work. I know a typical thing most car companies do is to rivet the speakers in anymore, either way i'l find a way around the issue when it warms up, whether its new alpine speakers or checking for stock replacement speakers.

also, tricia, you said to contact you if ineed anything else.....how about a free speaker? lol
