Manual transfer case popping

I have a 1995 chevy 1500 and my transfer case is popping even if I let it roll when the tranny is in neutral and the transfer case is in 2 HI it still pops.

Broken snap ring on the output shaft, get the replacement from the Dodge dealer, they are stronger and will snap right in place. Very easy repair just remove rear driveshaft and tail housing from the T-Case

And when it's in neutral on both transfer case and tranny it rolls fine

When it pops it jerks the truck to I feel like somthing so small would not do that but I don't know anything about transfer cases

I fixed a lot of them in the dealership, you'd think the T-Case was coming apart but a simple snap ring is all it is

Do I need to drop the case? And there is not a dodge dealership around we're else could I get one

Yeah a lot like that, no case does not need to be removed just tail housing, seriously a 1 minute job with the right tools

 

GM dealer has the clips too, Dodge ones are just a little thicker and stronger. We used to stock the Mopar parts at the GM dealership maybe your local one does too?

Clip is good I put in drive without driveshaft on and transfer case was spinning smooth could it be rear end maybe? I am replacing u joints
