WDTV Live, OGM1 & iPhone 5 = Amazing!

Where is the best place to ground the unit? I got accessory power from under the dash, X14 pin 8, and grounded at pin 1. I am sharing the pin 8 power with my backup camera, and have a SPST switch on the WDTV. I grounded both my backup camera and WDTV to pin1.

I am getting a whine on Video input and WDTV on with the vehicle running, and increases with throttle.

Thanks

I had the same problem, for some reason you can't use the same ground as the camera. I ended up grounding to the metal frame that holds the code reader plug and it fixed the problem.

If you need a 3.5mm A/V cable to RCA adaptor to go from the Advent's 3.5mm female jack on the MediaLink pod to the AV cable from the WDTV, give this a try: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007V6JCK/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

One of my customers tried it and it works - you will also need 3 RCA barrel connectors (female-female) and you will need to swap red & yellow connections so it's hooked up like this:

W-W

R-Y

Y-R

Looks like a really really neat setup. However, I have a question. If the unit is connected to the input on my OGM-1, can I then send it to the headrest monitors? Most of this stuff would be really handy for showing youtube videos and movies on the backseat monitors.

Simple as using RCA "Y" adaptors to send signal to the headrests...

Hmm...That's very temping. I may have to look into performing this upgrade to my system. Then just get all my kids DVD's loaded onto flash drives. Thanks Walt! Great stuff as always!

Yeah, you really should look into it – it is BY FAR the biggest bang for the buck that you can get in car audio today and it allows you to play ALL of your digital media files instead of only the ones that the head unit manufacturers will allow you to play...

Hi;

I was hoping you guys who have done this upgrade to the OGM1 can post photos of your install? I have a '12 Sierra, non-Bose, and I am having some trouble coming up with a suitable and painless place to install this. I have my media link pod installed in the empty cubby on the dash.

Thanks!

As a follow-up to my post, I decided to store the unit in the middle console on the floor under the middle seat. I ran the wires (power, A/V cable and USB extension) under the carpet and up behind the dash.

What I really need to know now is why do I have engine noise/an engine whine while using the WD TV? I attached the ground at one of the metal studs for the gas pedal (NOT my back-up camera ground) as recommended earlier in the post, but there is a lot of whine.

How did the other folks solve this? Another spot for ground? A noise filter?

Thank you in advance!

I tried just about every location I could find for ground under the drivers side dash and still have alternator noise on the WD TV Live input on the OGM-1. I bought an RCA noise filter which reduced the noise a lot, but the noise is still there.

Has anyone else solved this issue or something similar? I would love to nail down the cause for this noise!

Thank you!

This has been reported to work: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002ZRQ3PW/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
