Bearing or ball joints?? I'm confused...

2000 rcsb gmc sierra 4wd 1500

Ok so I finally got the driver side put back together with new ball joints and its good to go so I decided to look into my problem on the passenger side. The wheel has play in all directions but here's where I'm confused. I watched behind it as my girlfriend shaked it and when shook from top/bottom the wheel has plenty of play but no movement at the ball joints. Move it at the sides and it has play but no movement at the tie rods. So am I wrong in assuming my problem on this side is the wheel bearing and not the ball joints? I'm just confused cause when the other wheel bearing went out it made a roaring noise. And when the ball joints went out you could see the movement at the knuckle...

They are two you tube videos on wheel bearings. Both show what a bad bearing sounds or looks like. If you have excessive movement at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions, then your bearing is gone

Well after 300k miles I'd imagine the bearing would be a little worn...lol

 

Wish mine lasted half that. I got less than 50k on the driver side and less than 80k on the passenger side.

Well considering the "common problems" of our generation truck. I'm happy that its the bearing and not all the other jazz that could be wrong. Although one day I hope to fix my gas gage...

Exactly well that and the Est Fuel Used feature. I get to 12 gallons used and I fill up. Works good, but the CEL is getting annoying, where's that electrical tape when I need it...lol
