Car alarm install, is it difficult?

I was wondering how hard would it be to install one of the basic car alarms on my 2006 truck? I have seen the viper systems from crutchfield going for pretty cheap, but since I have never installed a car alarm before was wondering if it is something that a regular guy could do? Thanks!

If you haven't done this before and are unfamiliar with vehicle electronics I would get a shop to do it. I am quite good around vehicles and electronics and I wouldn't be comfortable installing a car alarm. I will do stereos and add-ons like lights and stuff, car alarms can be left to a professional. For the price its worth it for me, plus usually shops will warrenty any problems you might have later.

Ive been doing car audio and alarms for 17 years...I wouldnt say its hard...but you gotta use a meter to check your wires...just dont use a test light. Viper is made by DEI and is a very good company. They have been around for along time. I posted a link on the gm links so ppl could look up the wiring...it shows pics and all. Not that tough...IF you have any questions, feel free to ask , Ill help ya out!

If you chose to have it installed, look for a car audio shop- don't go to Best Buy.
