08 Silverado headers 5.3

Just recently put a blackbear 89 tune along with an airaid mit. Truck seemed to respond well to it.

Would i expect to see a lot more gains with long tube headers? If so what kind are best. Also are there ways to keep the cats without getting custom exhaust work done?

Yes midlengths/LTs will net you gains. To keep stock cats, you will need mid lengths but an exhaust shop will need to weld them to the flange. We have sold quite a few Thorley systems for the NNBS and they are real nice sets.

Do you all have any experience with the shorty style headers that bolt up with the factory collectors?

Jennabear,

Do you see much in gains from the mid lengths?

I am going to go shorts for the looks. I like the look of the new flowmaster headers

Looks? Nothing looks as good as LTs, length matters.

Yes, but mid lengths aren't legal for 04

Shorties might give you 10 @ 5500 rpm, maybe a little sound...

Some do look okay, ONLY stainless will look ok. Others will rust very quickly, Gibson makes the nicest shorties IMO.

FWIW I put shorties on my 2002 didn't feel or hear any difference, waste of money.
