I guess I should add that I plan to kill it. I am allowed to discharge a firearm in my township and I know ohio says there's no limits on when or how many to kill

All they do is cause problems.. i would take it out before it tries to take your dog.

Some people bait em, some people use a decoy and a E-caller. For those like you.. who just have them hop in the backyard and harass the dog, its easier.

22mag and up in rifles will take them,

for under 40-50 yards a 12ga with #4 buck works really well.

probbly gonna use my ar-15. What works well to bait them? I will see what a cheap e caller goes for

One coyote will get a dog to chase him to the pack where they are waiting for dinner to come running in. The tourists with dogs keep the coyotes well fed around here since they allow their dogs to run free and many never come back.

Here in southeastern Utah they are a every where. You can get 50 bucks for ears from the Utah DWR.

They get rather brave out here in packs and will come right into your camp at night if you are quiet, and at that time, I have taken out a few with my .40 that I carry all the time.

For longer distances, I have used a .223 (.22 just does not have the range, in my opinion), and on one occasion used my Weatherby Mark V .460 mag, which I had with me, believe me, it was an overkill.

Be careful where you shoot them when close to another house. In MI where i used to live, you could not shoot within 450 feet of a residence without permission of the owner; here in this particular county of Utah where I live, it is 400 feet of another residence. So no telling if Ohio has such a law; so you might want to check first if you have a nearby neighbor.

Ar will work perfectly, that is what I have set up for coyotes, bait wise.. any carcass or left over scraps will work, I've heard of dog food with bacon grease. Can check with a butcher for scraps too, that would work if it's legal to bait them in your state. My 18 y/o nephew takes alot of them over top of his deer carcass he will throw on a rock pile out in a pasture.

Safety first, from my experience about all you will see is 2, at the max 3 running together, I don't see any packs from where I am from, alot that I have seen are solo running the rolling hills.

So many of them out here in Southern UT that they raised the bounty from 25 to 50. Occasionally see them in packs, but like your area, one or two, but you can bet there are a few more around in the pack.

If you hit it between the eyes you win!

Uncle shot a Tom Cat in the head with a 22lr.. still seen it running around a week later. just a thought, I'd take a broiler room shot before a head shot.

    • I went through again with a test light and everything checked out.    I suppose it could be the MAF itself but I've tried 3 different sensors, 2 of which were in running vehicles previously (the one in this truck, and the one in the donor truck), as well as a new one I picked up from NAPA. I would just be surprised if all 3 were bad.   EDIT/UPDATE: I swapped in the MAP sensor that was originally with the 2010 PCM, that made the code for map sensor voltage high Go away, and the map sensor seems to read normal with key on engine off (14psi or so), but it still doesn't run and does the same thing as before.
    • In addition to a cell or wifi connection, the infotainment needs to be enabled to download software updates. That's a toggle within the system settings.   But...if the truck was prevented from receiving updates in a past life, missing a bunch of updates may mean it won't go back and download all of those because they're not available or the system is too far out of date.   If a formal recall depends on a software update, the recall for that truck remains in an open status until it's applied. The dealer would need to apply the software update in that instance.   Most updates downloaded and applied via the infotainment aren't recalls/safety recalls, they're enhancements and usability fixes which aren't critical.
    • Recently I've been getting a message, "New Brake Pads Detected. Reset Brake Pad Life?", But I haven't had the pads replaced and the truck only has 28,000 miles. The Brake Pad Life shows Front 64% and Rear 79%. I select NO to resetting the brake pad life and the message goes away but comes back at the nest restart.   I stopped by the dealer and was told that it sounds like a software glitch that would require reprogramming. Even though I have the extended warranty, they tell me that reprogramming is not covered unless a module was actually bad and needed to be replaced. Simply reprogramming is not covered. So, they want $200.00 just to diagnose the problem. If it turns out no bad module, another charge on top of that to do the reprogramming. If the cause was an actual bad module, everything would be covered under the warranty.   Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Should this issue be covered under the warranty?   Thanks
    • NHT is diesel only, correct.     The GVWRs for NHT on 3/4 ton bring them to the same numbers as many of the 2WD 1 tons.  A crew 4x4 standard 3/4 with NHT is 11,750lbs, a 1 ton same cab/box/4x4 is 12,100lbs.     Hubs and hub bearings are the same for 11.5" and 12" axles.  Housing, diff carrier and ring/pinion are larger for the 12".   All gas use the 11.5" axle, 3/4, 1 ton and 1 ton DRW.
