2006 Fan Motor Resistor

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I have a 2006 Sierra with Automatic temperature control. The fan is acting as if the fan motor resistor was not working, but I can't seem to find a regular looking resistor. All I can find is a board with a 3 wire connector and two hard wired to the motor.

What controls the fan speed in this truck? Is there a standard resistor board somewhere that I'm not seeing??

Thank you for any info!!

inspect the connector as well before ordering parts ,it has a tendency to melt,,,,the new connector comes with a foot of wires ,,,,,crimp each one at a time as all wires are white ,,,stagger the butt conectors so ya dont end up with a big wad of connectors all taped up

As said look at the connector. I have seen the resistor more often fail. But the connector can melt as well.

You will need a good 1/4 socket set with some universals and extensions it is a tricky removal.

I think they call it a module now.....doesn't look like the old style resistors. See attachment, item 2. After a little more digging, the manual systems still use what they call a resistor, the auto systems use the module.
