Will an 07-2012 Silverado stereo head unit work in a 97 Silverado?

does anyone know if a 07-2012 Silverado stereo head unit will work in a 97 Silverado?

For 1 it is too large and I am not sure the wiring will match up

No the 97 uses 12v to turn on the radio and the 07+ uses commands from the BCM via the Can-Bus system (I think it is what it is called) to turn it on, as there is no 12v to the radio at all.

What Aaron said. It'd take some serious, serious electrical voodoo to make it work. You'd be better off finding a salvage yard to pull an OE radio.

you would need a dealer to unlock it if you somehow got it to turn on, there is no unlock procedure you can do at home. Been there done that.

He is correct...the new radios all have data turn on.
