cruise control

can the cruise be adjusted? its so herky jerky on the highway, not smooth at all. the speed is constantly changing.

My 2011 cruise control under and over shoots the set point by more than 5 mph making it a speeding ticket waiting to happen. My last 3 GM vehicles have been this way but the 2011 is the worst.

 

I don't think GM has been able to properly design/program a cruise control in the last 30 years.

At what speeds are they happening at? I've noticed with the Allison 6-Speed that if I try to set cruise control at 45MPH the truck will still be in 4th gear and so the RPMs will jump up and then back down as it tries to maintain the speed, however if I get it up to 48MPH it shifts into 5th gear and is very smooth at that point.

I've found if you use toe tow/haul button and leave it in tow/haul, the cruise works a lot better. I think I logged a >0.5MPG change in mileage, but it stopped hunting, and was a lot better with the crazy speed swings.

 

The addition of the 6 speed is absolutely brutal on the GM cruise. I really doubt they spent any time adjusting the cruise with the new tranny.

about 65 i set it. i rented an impala last summer and the cruise was good. this truck is all messed up. i get whiplash from the speed changes. definitely not smooth, no big deal, i don't have to use it if i don't want to. maybe it is the tranny.
