Street Racing.....!!

Anybody have any good truck street racing stories?  This topic has probably been covered but I'll try it anyways.  I don't really have any interesting experiences but I'll give you something that happened to this evening since I ususally resist the temptation to race other trucks out of fear of getting a ticket:

I was on the interstate (speed limit 70mph) doing about 71mph.  Two guys (kids) in a black Dodge Ram 1500 Sport reg cab/short bed are passing everyone and get up next to me in the passing lane.  The windows are tinted and he passes me then lets off and ends up right beside me again.  I just driving trying to act like I'm not paying attention.  The passenger window rolls down and the guy on that side flips me off-I can see his lips moving like I'm supposed to be able to hear!  I keep ignoring them and they take off finally at a nice clip.

As they go I see a p!ss on Ford sticker on the back window and the Fox racing sticker.  Also has a set of dual exhausts (like those really help a Dodge go faster  :D ).  About ten miles up the highway I decided I'd pass them since it was too easy:  The West Virginia State Troopers had the two clowns pulled over with the old blue lights blazing.  I blew the horn as I drove by-the driver was out of the truck with the officer and he definitely saw and heard me!  Made me glad I donated to the Trooper's association a few months ago!!   :D

just got done getting some late night munchies from jack in the box. at the stop light heading back to my friends house. a llifted ext cab short bed 1500 silverado pulls up next to me. he has his windows down, i have a cab full of people. the guys in the next truck keep looking over at me. at green he gets on it, i step on it (figured what the hell). the big block steps up and we start pulling ahead of the other truck till i reached the speed limit. the other guy keeps going. next stop light the guy asked me what i had.. "its just a stock 454" while i could hear at least a cat-back system on his truck. light goes green and leave the guy behind. nothing amazing just amusing to me how the guy was just amazed with my truck.

and that was before the LCD screen, i'm sure then they would have blown their minds..  well that is if i had it out. normally dont have the screen out while i'm driving. bad things could happen.

I don't have any good racing stories, because I tell all of the ricers that I'll be more than happy to race you come december when there's a foot of snow on the ground.  Heck, I'll even tow you out of the snowbank when you get stuck.

I have a few

Of all the races i have tried in i have only lost one.  It was wet out and there was an older Z71 i hit the gas and the freaking back wheels spun and then the rear started to bounce and chatter (locking rear).

Guy in a honda accord super sized exhaust fin wing whatever its called stickers galore.  Get to stop light about 200 ft away is a hill.  I take it easy he steps on it i hang with him just as we get up the hill i punch it im gone left him.  Get to the next light he goes whatcha got under that hood.  I say good ole american V-8 then turn.

how come alot of people wanna race trucks?  Then we kick their butt.  Its hilarious

I need to stop driving so fast my mpg suffers

I just laugh at those guys in the ricers that want to race. Even though I only have a 4.8 in my truck I do have a K&N FIPK and it has made a difference. I figure I am closing 300hp. When I get the Banks exhaust I will be over that mark. That is alot of go for my truck. Those ricer guys are just not ready for Prime Time.

Hey there's nothing wrong w/ the 4.8, that's what I'm running.  Along w/ a dual flowmaster and a K&N FIPK.  Unless you've got some super exotic sports car, heck even if you do, it's all driving skill.  If you know your vehicle and know how it will react you can win any race.  Our trucks are very light for pickups and pack a lot of horsepower.  At best the honda civics are pushing what 150 horsepower (Never really saw any specs on them, but I know it's not a lot) and w/ that big spoiler on a front wheel drive car, it's gotta be good.

Yet, I've never understood that.  A spoiler is supposed to keep a vehicles tires on the ground at high speeds.  What is the point of it on a front wheel drive car.  I even caught a glimpse of a civic w/ wheelie bars on the cover of some magazine while I was going for a copy of off-road mag.

This happened this summer in the vette..

I was sitting in town stopped at a stoplight *like how most races happen* when 3 guys *2 honda civic's 1 honda prelude* pull up beside me and behind me.. Buddy looks over to me and say nice piece o ****.. Anyway i laugh at him so he gets all p'd off at me and decides to do a smoke show right there on the spot.. I caught the light so i took off a little quicker than usual.. I lost them fairly quickly and had a few moments of silence before all of a sudden the one guys comes up beside me and cuts me off.. *BIG MISTAKE*

Now I ll play fair up until somone does something like that.. So the game is on.. I m not gonna take a chance in getting a ticket in the vette cause if i i got one at 20 years old i dont drive the car anymore.. So I just play games with them..

Hey got something for someone to try one day.. If someone is tailgating you do this:

Swerve like there is something like an animal on the road.. It was single lanes both ways so it worked out even better...

The bigger the swerve the more the people behind you panic.. I know the last guy got the worst as he slammed into the back of the other guy when he freaked out and pressed his brakes too hard :D

I cant be blammed cause innocently i didnt do anything :D

Some of the things I'll do is just look straight back right at them.  They get a bit freaked when they see you aren't watching the road (good idea to have a passenger hold the wheel and steer, but not notiecably)  also, if someone seems to be in a big hurry and ride behind me about 2" from my bumper I'll just let off the gas and coast.  I'll pace the car next to me just to not let them through.  But the most fun can be had if you let them pass you and then get right on there butt.  Because I'm not scared when a honda civic is riding me, but when I get behind them, especially at night w/ my headlights that are aimed high, they get freaked.

all they see is a big ole grill guard and some bright lights they learn

One day when i come up to someone in the fast lane going 20-30 in a 45 i wanna push them along.  Im so tempted

Thanks for the swirve tip i gotta use that one

Ryan, if I'm really PO'ed at them they'll get a taste of my dual 100 watt off-road lights.  They'll think that it's daylight it got so bright out.  Since I relocated the switch right next to the air bag switch the passengers are always reaching over to hit it when someone cuts me off.  WTF, that's my job and besides if a cop sees that I'm in big trouble.  I've almost got to put a safety cover over it like they do for an NOS switch.

They aren't KC lights.  I don't really see that it being worth the money to dump 50 bucks into one light when I bought these for 10 bucks each, and they put out 100 watts and can light up any road.  I dunno, they work great for me.

I've got tons of them from when I had my Blazer.  My license plate on it was XPLRZUK (explorer's SUCK).  Needless to say, many an explorer attempted to race the mighty 4.3, all lost.  Many Ranger's tried too, to no avail.

I've gotten into many with the Tahoe, but none special, mostly with whatever idiot lined up next to me at the stoplight.

One of my pet peeves (and drives me up a wall...my G/F doesn't understand why I blow my top either) is when you are in a two (or more) laned traffic at a stoplight.  You are the only one at the stoplight and the person coming up behind you suddenly has to change lanes to be first in the next lane at the light.  Usually I accelerate at maximum throttle so if you stayed behind me, I'd be long gone, there's no need for you to move over.  So when this is done, an automatic buttkicking is to be administered.
