502ci Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I'm not going to buy a trailer with brakes just to haul a tractor a couple times a year. So many things wrong with this statement it is disturbing...
crankman Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Yes you can easily tow that load but a 16ft lowboy should have brakes. You asked so im saying its all about safety when towing a decent load like a tractor. I own 3 different types of trailer and wouldnt use them if the brakes were out . I just dont want to be in a situation where i ran over some dumb kid or a million other what ifs. It just aint worth a serious accident heck most accidents happen close to home anyway. Didnt mean to sound like I was preaching I guess just go slow stay off highways.
AgDoctor Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 I have towed 8000 pounds on a trailer with no brakes around the farm, but it works a lot better with trailer brakes. People would be surprised around peanut harvest time if that little load bothers them. A fully loaded peanut wagon holds seven to eight tons, and I have pulled them all day long with half tons and 2500s. Guess what, I haven't seen a peanut wagon with brakes, ever. Gotta keep the speed around 25-35 though. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
