General Grabber tires

I do have these. Actually two sets now. These came stock on my 2012 Sierra. I recently changed rims and went with them for the new set.

I love these tires. They are quiet, very sure-footed, excellent wet and dry traction and handle great. They are the best tires I have had on any of my trucks and I have had a bunch. That is why when I went to change rims to the Z71 style rims(different size) I stuck with the Grabbers. I went from 245/70-17 to 265/60-18s.

You can get them from Walmart as well as a version made for them. The ones I have are the General Grabber HTS and the Walmart version is labeled as the General Grabber STX. Both are the same price. I paid $175 each for the new set.

First set have ~8000 miles and still look new. These tires are 60,000 mile tires. They have also been a Consumer Reports best buy rated number 1 I believe for the last two years.

I had General Grabbers on my truck for less than 100 miles. They came stock on my 2011 Silverado. I have a very bad taste in my mouth concerning the General Tire brand. My previous truck, an '06 GMC came with General Americraps. One of them had a slow leak that no one could ever find, so I used the spare. A second, blew out at about 8K miles. I've been driving for close to 60 years now, and this is the only blow out I've ever had. General customer service was of absolutely no help. They were extremely rude people. I promised myself then that I would never own another set of Generals, and I meant - NEVER. Like Rusty my truck came with 245/70/17 Grabbers. I also replaced the wheels with the same OEM 18" alloys. I put Michelin LTX A/S, white letter, in the same 265/60/18 size as Rusty. I've been extremely happy with them.

I was wondering more about the ones that have red lettering, it's hard to specify because all their tires have the same names. But I wondered alittle about the ATs too.

I had the Grabber AT2s on my Tacoma. Excellent tire. I wanted them for this truck but they were on back order in the size I wanted. The red letter ones you ask about are a dedicated offroad tire and I hear they wear extremely fast if driven on normal roads frequently.

I had the AT2's on my previous rig. Loved them! Not one complaint - other than I want some more for my new truck...
