Buffering sound inside of truck

Anyone else out there hear a strange sound from the cabin while driving at highway speeds? The best I can describe it is like a wind buffering sound like you sometimes get with the windows down but mine are up. It's almost a pulsing sound. I know these trucks put out a noise canceling sound frequency and I almost think that's what I'm hearing. This morning when I heard it I opened the rear window and then closed it and it seemed like the change in cabin pressure might have corrected it because I didn't notice it a much after I closed the window. I have noticed it since I bought the truck but if the radio is playing music I don't notice it as much. It also does it with the radio off.

Can't say I have driven my truck on the highway without the radio on. Next time I'm on the road I'll turn it off and listen cause I haven't heard any buffeting noises at all.

Some of the 14's use adaptive sound compensation, basically a microphone picks up the road noise and outputs the inverse through the speakers dampening the sound out

I thought that Active Noise Cancellation was only available on the not yet released 6.2...

At the dealer they told me the microphone above the driver seat wasn't for onstar but active noise cancellation. I got the truck the first week they came out so its possible he didn't know. I would think any of GM's direct injection motors would have it because when fuel is shut of to the cylinder when the gas is let off it makes a unwanted sound or that's how the dealer described it to me when we bought are Equinox with DI.

They all have it, on mic in left front, one in right front, and one in the rear

It soulds like the system might be out of calibration, maybe one of the mics is dead, I'd talk to your dealer and get it fixed, I dont think the cancellation is something I'd want to remove from the vehicle, quite the reverse I wish I could retrofit my new 2013 with it, maybe in a year or so it'll be a MOD that we can do

I think the mic that you are refering to above your head is for the bluetooth, it was on my 2010 and is on my 2013, but I guess it might be doing double duty

Strange, I thought in the GM press release the active noise cancellation was only in the 6.2 as well.

It only shows up on the specs for the 6.2 on the build site, but if Silver Spaceship is correct and they use it to overcome the noise from the AFM kicking in then it would make sense for it to be on the other models as well

I guess, never noticed any buffering noise in my truck.

The "mic" above your head is not a microphone at all it is an cabin air temp sensor, it has a small fan in it

The Bluetooth uses the same microphone as OnStar and that is located in the upper center console with the reading lights

I stand corrected, I'll stop talking to the fan from here on, no wonder my bluetooth sounds muffled
