Tow Mirrors

Whatever options you have NOW will work...so if you have memory recall they'll work. They will not however be power fold if you didn't have power fold already or memory recall. The mirrors depending on which you are talking about will not automatically power the amber or cargo/led lamp lights without wiring them up yourself.

thanks...so let's assume the signal lights are not plug and play as you say, are the signal wires at the door harness where it plugs into the mirror harness and, therefore, just need to be rerouted to match up with the mirror harness pinout? Other posts suggests the signal wire is located at this point but i don't know if it is "live".

Or do new signal wires need to be run from under the dash (or elsewhere)? I've read that swapping the harness will fix the pinout issue but those harnesses run $80 a piece. Do the door harnesses run all the way to the BCM?

all credit goes to @155Hey guy well I went and bought these mirrors off ebay ..so ill guini pig them..at first glace you would have a hard time telling they arent gm..really nice and seem well built , Im not sure you could tell the difference..anyway heres some install pix and comments. I also decided it wasnt worth the hassle to make signals work so they have power and heat which both work flawlessly.

No problem, they aren't mine. They belong to another member his name is 155. Just helping out where I can. I don't know if u saw my other comment on the other forum u posted on. The arm rest trim piece that you will remove, make sure the silver clips get removed from the door and install them on the trim piece. If you don't do this then when you push the piece back in, they will fall inside the door and your gonna have a hard time trying to recover them.

i bought after market towing mirrors for my 02 silverado. i bought mirrors that went on a 03-07 classic for the signal mirrors and i had them for about a year before i traded them in and i had no issues with them. they were plug and play (although i had to rewire them since i bought the wrong year model mirrors.

Edit: mine were from ebay and they were around 200 for both or maybe 250.

How did you rewire them?

How did you rewire them?

I don't remember which wires were what, but all I did was cut off the pig tails from my OEM mirrors and swapped them to the tow mirrors splicing the correct wires together to where I was still able to adjust my mirrors via the switch control. I then ran a running light wire from under the dash through the door and to the mirror to power the side light so it acted as a running light. it was not very hard and not ideal but it worked so I was happy. it was a suddle enough that no one knew the difference.

Mine doesnt have a running light do i need to run the wire from the dash for the blinkers to work or just the wires for the mirror?

what doesn't have a running light, your mirrors? since your truck is an 01 (according to your sig) then yes you will have to run a wire from the dash to the mirror that is either a running light (parking lights) or turn signal, which ever you prefer.

there is a video on youtube that i found where a company made tow mirrors for the 99-02 trucks with a running light and turn signal but i don't remember why i did not get them. b/c if you get those then you don't have to do what i did and slice all the wiring together. but either way you will have to run a wire from the dash through the door and to your mirror to get the lights to work. it is not p&p.

I installed tow mirrors last weekend used NitroDatsik photos on how to do it (thanks NitroDatsik). My mirrors where aftermarket with power and heat. Didn't have to splice any wires it was plug and play. They work great.

Someone needs some tow mirrors

Do you still have the mirrors? I may be interested if I can talk Sweetie into it!

I have a lightly used pair of the non power folding OEM tow mirrors. Good shape, there is one small nick in the plastic on the outer edge of the passenger side mirror, superficial only. These are the OEM Mirrors that are heated and have the directional in the glass. Selling for $300 local pickup in Connecticut / Hudson Valley NY. I can ship them if you like but buyer will pay shipping cost.

EDIT: These are for the 2007-2013 body style. Originally thought the were interchangeable, my mistake.

Got mine from Rockauto.com. About $360 for factory OEM. Installed and found out that the turn arrows dobt work. When installing you can either drill the extra hole or remove the extra stud from the mirror. I removed the stud and havent had any problems with only 3 mounting studs. Still working on getting the turn signals to work. Any ideas??

Hey NitroDatsik, great pics! Your truck looks exactly like mine and I have been looking to get REAL tow mirrors for my truck for a while... while I don't need power extension/retraction...it would be nice to ensure the mirrors are power activated as far as movement...at least the main mirror. Also, it would be great, if I got the mirrors with the turn signal option, if they could work...any feedback on these items?

    • Can ask that about a lot of places.   Holiday sells 91 for $1 over 87 octane. BP 93 is 80 cents. Amoco 93 is 80 cents Kwik Trips is $1.20 for 92 or whatever they have and $1 for the 91.   I know that this is not exactly same as what you are saying with the premium to premium debate of those two stations but why is there such a difference. Top Tier this and that, it's all BS. All the fuel comes from the same damn refinery, so give me a break.
    • Why does Mobil Premium cost 90 cents a gallon more than Shell Premium when their regular offerings are but pennies apart?
    • Was all the way down to $3.69 a gallon but then jumped back to $3.99 just because for some reason.   Diesel floats between $4.80's to $5.10ish a gallon. I even saw Diesel #1 for $6.09 today but nobody in there right mind even buys that in the summer.
    • Mine just keeps lagging or getting stuck on the reverse camera. When I turn off the truck, get out, and close the door it will still stay on. It’s very intermittent and I would not be able to duplicate the issue.
    • I was checking out fuel prices at my farm fuel retailer at their pumps and yes the farm price is a bit lower than the non dyed fuel and was glad to see that the regular farm gas price has dropped a lot from what it had been but what blew me away was the price of diesel as the spread now compared to before the prices went up earlier in the year, diesel was actually slightly lower than gas which was a switch from the theme the last number of years. However that sure isn't the theme lately and definitely not right now. The prices I will post are not from that retailer but just looking at gasbuddy for the main city in this area and instead of posting the lowest price someone found I will list the higher price ( and that may not be the highest price, just whatever someone posted on gasbuddy ).   So regular gas and there are a lot of stations listing the same price for regular is 1.68 a liter, premium 2.00 a liter. Diesel 2.03 a liter for a top price I saw on diesel.   Figures out to 6.36 a us gallon Canadian funds for regular and 7.68 for diesel. With the US exchange rate it would be 4.58 us for regular and 5.53 for diesel.    Thought I would figure that out to get a picture of what it settles out like compared to various US prices and its about the same as the current price in Fairbanks AK as Anchorage tends to be lower. So yes, these would be the prices and higher along the way on the Alaska highway where they know they have a captured market !, for fuel prices for those beginning the long drive back to the lower 48   The problem is our Canadian dollar and going to the states that have the high prices, boy do we pay then !
