90mm Throttle Body Upgrade

I'm looking at part# 12605109. Is this a direct fit (no mods) for my '06 5.3L? I did quite a bit of searching/reading of topics before posting, but came away a bit confused for my specific application. A lot of discussion was focused on the '07+ vehicles and the 6.2L.

You can see my current upgrades in my sig and am considering swapping the TB if it's that easy. Any considerations? Thanks.

Nope. I'm in the process. You need the intake manifold off a TBSS or an 07+ 4.8/5.3 for it to work. I am doing the TBSS manifold/rails/injectors to get the 87 mm Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk 4

What Jenna said. A lot of money and works best with a cam upgrade from what I was told.

I would only recommend going with a larger than OEM throttle body, if you have an FI application (even then, should be a 100mm+ TB). Otherwise, you will see no gains.

Keep in mind, the stock TB is good for ~550HP, most vehicles never will see that number.

The 75 mm is good that high? I am still trying to find better than 317 heads to run with a GT2-3 cam

Your MAF and your engine will be the limiting factors. I have seen ported/polished TBs that make absolutely no difference. Just throwing money at a part that won't give you much as far as gains, if any.

That's why I have you guys to alter those factors

We can't alter the limits of your MAF and your engine though.

Your 75mm will flow 63lbs of air/min at standard air pressure and temperature. That is roughly 630HP.

The 90mm will flow 80lbs of air/min at standard air pressure and temperature. That is roughtly 800HP.

To break it down, you will have better response out of the 75mm

But the MAF can be changed... The setup is still on the garage shelf

Eventually after I get a new DD

+1 on that, also if your vehicle is an automatic, try a 3600 2.5 str. stall coupled to a sf29 race grade flexplate.

If you change your TC, ALWAYS purchase a name brand that is proven.
