how do I tell it just to go to city... like "Dallas Texas" It's wants a full address, POI, etc... I can't figure out how to get the thing just to take me to a general location... like a city.

You can't get it to do that

I usually pick a central POI in my gps. Like the post office.

Try using the intersection of two main roads near the center of the city.
