a month or 2 ago i thought i got a recall notice in the mail that had something to do with the afm. i went to the dealer and they told me the only recall out was for the dip stick. anyone else know anything about this?

There is NO recall for the AFM,there have been some bulletins on it,but no recalls.

would i have gotten it in the mail if it was a bulletin? i think it said that when it would drop down to 4cyl the truck would shake badly and mine just started doing it

No,they do not mail bulletins out.

Best thing I ever did was tune the AFM out with the Diablosport Intune. Same economy, much smoother, significant power gain, etc.

all I got in the mail was an explaination that they are extending warranty on a powertrain condition to 10/120k of course if you bring it in and it is not that exact condition you are on the hook for it of course lol http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/cs/jaxrs/download/doc/UCM429727/CSC-10047220-3332.pdf

That is for the TPS, not related to the AFM system directly.

The one I got was about the dip-stick possibly cracking due to vibration and causing an oil leak / fire. The put a little O-ring on the dip stick some where to reduce the vibration... I didn't see them do it (our dealer does the waiting room thing). One about the rear-axle pin replacement, but my truck was not in the VIN range. The only other one I remember receiving in the mail was the Dexos info card, saying we should use it even though our manual, oil cap and engine don't say its. My 2011 was made before Dexos oil caps showed up on engines.

I don't remember an AFM ones..

Mine has done that since day one.....normal is what I'm told

Definitely not normal. When mine switches between 4/8 cylinder-mode I cannot tell.

As soon as I mentioned it, the shop foreman said that "It was normal, and GM even rearranged the firing order to accommodate the AFM system, and that I've may have noticed that the idle isn't at smooth as my '06" (sure do miss that truck), and he's right, the idle does seem do be a little off
