True Flow Foam Intake??

I just got the latest issue of Sport Truck and they dyno tested the True Flow Intake. It seems pretty impressive. Does anyone know anything about it?

I've had mine since July 2002. Very nice piece. Silicone boot end/elbow, powdercoated tube. Price at first seems high $330, but it ain't no cheap plastic pipe.

Click on the link in my sig. That is picture is exactly how mine looks.....well I don't have all that billet under the hood like the owner's Tahoe pictured.

Before I had put the True Flow on, I had figured out somewhat how to get around the Torque Management. Start out at about 1/4 throttle moving a little to 1/3, after second shift going to 1/3 then towards 1/2 throttle. Any more and the TQ boggs it all down.

Anyways after install, definite SOTP feel and minor 1-2 tire chirp. Trying to avoid TQM puts it in the 3500-4000 RPM range.

I had driven to Scottsdale AZ from Tucson to buy the tube, not to save shipping, but the drive is about 2 hours back to Tucson, so I had plenty of play time on the way back. After I got home, I looked again at the dyno sheet the vendor has and the increases are shown to be in the 3000-4000 range.

For mileage, I can't rule out that as these current gen trucks seem to be getting better mileage towards 20K even 30K. Before the True Flow was city at 16MPG. Installed at 2500miles. Current mileage at 8700 and city 18MPG. The thing to note with the 16MPG is that I never once stomped on it as I consider up to 2000miles still breakin. The 18MPG, I'm on it every day...just not WOT with TQM being the Killjoy.

I've opted to use the foam filter they sell with it. The K&N that I have is just for use during cleaning/drying of the foam one. They will sell with it a K&N like guaze filter if you want, but they say they are getting much better flow numbers with the foam one.
