2014 Sierra Vibration at Highway Speeds

New to this site to and my new 2014 GMC sierra 4x4 SLT crew cab has the same vibration. Brought it in two times so far and i am getting the run around to.I have 1200 miles on it and have had it for 1 1/2 months. Not happy at all.

Mine just flipped 5K miles, took it on a long trip to the beach about a week ago....first time to 75-80 while crusing and guess what?

I got vibration...My bed is off center, I wonder if that could be enough to cause it? I guess when i find the time I'll call the dealership and see if they'll look at it.

In all honesty, before I get all moody about it, I'll let em' check the tires, bed alignment, rims, etc.

Whats the deal Ironhead2 says he not happy with his truck and had it back to the dealership just two times because he has the same problem I do and you want to help him! I guess because he has not had all the fun I have taking back and forth to dealer 8 times at my expense for time a gas you don't want to help me? Or is it because you have a better idea or fix now?

who would go to that much extra non-refundable expense for a warranty issue and to what end? if it solved the problem you still voided the drive train warranty for doing it and if it fixes it you still wont get GM to recognize it or believe you.

I understand the sentiment of just getting it fixed but not at the expense of loosing the drivetrain warranty on it especially when it seams every month we find another defective part failing on these trucks, even the damn radios don't work right!

I mean if you had a lemon law lawyer arguing your case and lost in court then you are SOL with a lemon truck with no other resolution or option, then I would go this route as you have no choice other then loosing $10k on trading it in

keakar, First off you won't void the drivetrain warranty, only the driveshaft warranty, if I told them. Second GM doesn't seem really interested in fixing this vibration problem when they answer "they all do that". Third...Its cheaper to have a driveshaft made that maybe fixes my truck rather than take a bath trading in a 2014 truck. It only costs $50 to see if shaft is out of balance and $250 for new perfect spin to 6000 RPM one. A lawyer??? At least $500 to start and then what??? Like you said, Lose in court and your stuck with a POS truck. All I was doing was asking "if" anybody had had a new professionally built one made.

Not sure what the problem could be unless it's just the earlier '14s? I got mine just this past April and haven't had any vibration issues so maybe mine was a later built '14. I have almost 6,700 miles on it and have drove on the interstate and highway plenty of times. Hell it probably has more highway miles than city. Two times where day trips to the beach which is 150 miles away and it's rode like a Cadi ever since getting it with 9 miles on it.

If it matters mine is the double cab 5.3 4x4 Z71 with the steel A-arms.

Oh ok. I haven't tried to find the build date of my truck. Maybe it was a bad batch of a part. All the problems I've been hearing of the '14s luckily my truck hasn't done. I've babied it part of the time, but I've also gone done a lot of dirt and gravel roads. I'm not exactly easy on vehicles for the most part so if my truck was going to have problems I'm sure it would have shown a long time ago. So I don't think it's certain trims or trucks with certain build dates. It would be better if it was though so they could pen point the problems. Hope the problems get fixed. I wished I could have waited for the '15s, but well the engine seized in my 98 and was tired of working on it so much and doing major fixes. Which is mainly my fault because I was a lot harder on that truck than most people in lifted trucks so can't blame it all on the truck lol. It was stock height too and seen more mud than most lifted trucks.

well the build date is stamped on the tag on your drivers door frame and the vibrations are mainly felt when on smooth roads from 65-70 ish mph

the rougher the road is the less you feel it and the smoother the road the more it vibrates so you need to find some smooth blacktop to tell if yours is a vibrator which is why many who do have vibrators don't realize it because they don't get up to those speeds or drive on smooth roads to be able to notice it and they think its the road they feel when its really the truck that is giving them a rough ride.

I am just curious, but what does calling the dealership help with? I could be interested as I am dealing with the same issue but its so frustrating waiting over 2 weeks to get in for a appointment.

I know you think you are trying to help but the problem is not the dealership's after having my truck in 8 times for the same problem I got to know the services manager and mechanics real good, and they tell me that there hands are tied if they do not have a service bulletin from GM authorizing them to do a repair or pointing them in the right direction they are out of luck or out of pocket for unauthorized repairs. So the problem is GM and there engineers. You need to crawl out from under that rock you been hiding under and read some of the bulletins your company GM has been putting out! Like we have a problem that we can't find a fix for and quit passing the buck!
