2014 Sierra Vibration at Highway Speeds

I know you think you are trying to help but the problem is not the dealership's after having my truck in 8 times for the same problem I got to know the services manager and mechanics real good, and they tell me that there hands are tied if they do not have a service bulletin from GM authorizing them to do a repair or pointing them in the right direction they are out of luck or out of pocket for unauthorized repairs. So the problem is GM and there engineers. You need to crawl out from under that rock you been hiding under and read some of the bulletins your company GM has been putting out! Like we have a problem that we can't find a fix for and quit passing the buck!

Your going to have to do the process of what others have done which is document and allow GM to try and fix it a set number of times allowed by law. If the problem still persist then start the paper work for a buyback. There is a 200+ page thread here with many former 2014 Silverado and Sierra owners who have done so successfully.

It is more then likely the rear end assembly being out of spec, GM has admitted to a problem with such. Why these dealers are acting stupid about it is beyond me but shows why GM for a large part is hated by the majority here in this country now!

Gm doesn't want to pay their techs and the techs of course don't want to work for free, instead of doing what's right and making the customer happy they make them jump through hoops as it is constantly a struggle between the dealer and Gm for payment!

BIGDOG you probable did not see my post on page 1 where I listed most of the things they have tried on my truck, I have walked the walk and danced the dance, I would love to see the thread you are referring too it did not show up on your post, please re-post it or send me a link to find it.

I'm guessing the people with vibration issues have 3.08 gears. I had a 14 with 3.08 gears and always vibrated on highway and downshifted. Now I traded in for a new 14 with 3.73 gears. Never downshifts and no vibration. They should of never put 3.08 gears in these trucks especially 4x4. They should only allow 3.42 and 3.73 gears. The 3.08 trucks are weak no matter what motor u have

Mine has the 3.08 (which like you I don't like), but no vibrations and doesn't downshift for no reason.

iLlama,

I could reach out to the dealership, make them aware of your concern, and explore all available options of assistance on your behalf. If they’re experiencing backlog and can’t get you in soon, I could contact another one and see if they have any earlier openings. Just send me a private message if this is something of interest and we can discuss things further.

Sincerely,

Eddie A.

Like I said in other threads, dealerships have been told not to go looking for problems. GM is not going to reimburse dealerships for going rogue and trying to figure things out on their own. If it's not currently in a TSB, PI, PIB, or some other GM repair or improvement document or GM does not assist in the diagnosis process the dealership will not be reimbursed. That's why some dealerships are hesitant, they want to get paid for work they perform.

I have 3.42 gears in my 14 and it vibrates so I guess that theory is out the window, you must work for GM customer care! LOL

There's a 200+ page thread on this issue. Vibrations are not limited to any particular build date, build location, body style, gear ratio, engine size, 4x4 or 4x2, etc. It's 100% completely random. There also appears to be three different types of vibrations, 2 of which have been solved by replacing either the tires or the rear end, but there's a third type of vibration that can't be solved. Check out this thread and join the discussion.

I see Andraya, you just want to talk about how sorry GM is for making this piece of crap! And now that I contacted BBB I get referred to the GM's SOL DON'T CARE DEPARTMENT because we are tired of talking to you! THANKS :nopity::banghead:

We are truly sorry you feel this way based on your current situation. We are always willing to do our best to assist customers, however once legal action is taken, we are no longer the best department to assist.

Dealers service depts wont try to solve anything on their own. As already mentioned, if there isnt a clear case where GM will pay them to do it, it aint happening.

I had a my selling Chevy dealer service manager sit in my 2014 Silverado passenger seat and I watched his head bounce off the passenger seat headrest when the transmission slipped and caught when taking off in first gear so violently it shook the whole truck. He looked at me and said, yeah, thats normal, its driveline flex. I felt like cussing him out and calling him an incompentent fool. I didnt do that. I respectfully disagreed, left and called GM Cust Care. They were very apologetic, but completely useless.

A month later after two other dealers (dealers I went to on my own with NO offer of help from GM cust care) refused to repair my slipping trans, because I didnt buy it from them, I went back to my selling dealer service manager with a 2014 Silverado trans slipping TSB that I found online, PIP5175B, and asked him to look at it again. He did, since I supplied the TSB. Guess what? Internal leakage. Repaired at GM expense. Still got the vibration though, and he refuses to look at it again for the vibe.

GM cust care is useless. You cant rely on them to help at all. Try going through the dealer, if that doesnt work, file with BBB, if that doesnt work, file state lemon law.

I also have the MAJOR vibration of the Cab on my 2014 Silverado. I feels so ripped off on this truck. Click my user name to see my post on the 200+ page thread.

This truck is by far the worst purchase I have ever made EVER. Flat out worst...with no fix or Tech bulletin / recall in sight.

I just came home from a 10 mile freeway ride and feel like I just got off a old wooden roller coaster..

I can't believe I sold my Camaro SS for this Junk Truck! Last Chevy I will ever buy if GM doesn't step up real quick with a fix!!!!!!

Yeah Truck of the year!!! 100% B.S!

Andraya I sorry too the only reason I got BBB involved because you was not will to help! after trip 6 to the shop your people said we have did all we can do for you it is just the way the truck is, after BBB got involved made 2 more trips to the dealership and still nothing and you say you are always willing to help, I was never offered a buy-back or trade the only thing I got one excuse after another from Customer Relationship Specialist: Nicole! from all the trucks have the same vibration to the truck is lighter weight to get better gas mileage that is why it vibrates REALLY. So I guess I must have misunderstood when you said "We are always willing to do our best to assist customers"

Guys you wont get anywhere...its too big of an issue for GM to address...they will simply take the legal actions as they come and buy back the few (as a percentage that have been sold) that actually choose to go the legal route, vs repairing hundreds of thousands of trucks. .. its probably the transmission. ..and the reason why the 8spds are being phased in slowly... be willing to bet 2015s with the 8spds wont vibrate while the 6spds will still.... I traded mine off, lost about 7k... but regaining my sanity was worth it
