RCD vs ProComp??

Well I have finally aquired the funds to start my lift! :thumb:

I was set on going with the RCD 6" at just about $1700 when I came across the ProComp kit for $1100 (it used to be $1600)! That's a pretty big difference ! Is there really that big of a difference between the two ??? ? I know people who use both and niether have had any issues! Only downfall I have seen on the ProComp is that it will only accept 8" wide rims, no 10"s. Any thought, suggestion???

Dang dude $1700 for the 6" rcd kit? Got mine for $1450. You should haggle with the sales rep. With the RCD I was able to get 17x10s fitted, not sure about the restrictions of the pro-comp kit, although I heard some good things about them.

Every shopkeep I spoke with really pushed the RCD kits for chevy/gmc applications, so you can take that for what it's worth.

UM, Ive seen lots of Pro comp lifts with various diameter and 10 width wheels, as long as they have standard backspacing.

Around here RCD lifts are everywhere, but those ugly yellow shocks just clash.

Im looking into the 8" Fabcraft or CTS, or Full throttle or whiplash. 6" just isnt enough on a Chev for me.

Here's a little tip, if you want to go with the Pro Comp lift, at this moment, 4 wheel parts stores are offering a gonga deal: the lift installation is free along with a free upgrade to the mx6 shocks! Check it out man, thats like over $750!

But if you want to stay with the RCD (personal choice) then you can also request the nickel plated shocks, more $, but you'll avoid the ugly yellow!

4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers is the company he is speaking of.There are several of them nation wide but they don't have stores in every state yet,at least I don't think they do.

Don't know much about the ProComp lift, but my RCD kit fits well and looks great. I have had no problems fitting my 17x10 rims and 35x12.50x17 Procomp Xterrains. I have heard nothing but good about RCD and nothing about Procomp. Just my decision. My lift was $2000 installed. Don't know the labor/parts breakdown.

Procomp will not only accept 8" rims as far as the hardware is concerned (maybe warranty concerns though)... That is their specified rim to keep all of the suspension components close to factory operation. The upper ball joints and tie rod ends specifically do not like wide rims with additional backspacing. You see it all of the time though- most everyone uses at least 10" wide rims. I run a 12" wide Alcoa on my 94 w/Exp Pro Comp kit, and aside from more frequent front suspension component changeout (upper ball joints and tie rod ends at 25-50k), I prefer the additional width for stability and stance.

Unless Procomp specifically warranties the kit w/ 8" rims only, I am sure you could get away with 10" wide. So if the cost savings are there (Free install?! ) maybe persue that option

and put the rest into something else.

Dude RCD freakin owns! My ride is almost like factory and that aint no bs. Albeit I have heard good things about Pro-comp as well, but all the shops I spoke with said RCD was the best kit for chevy/gmc apps. Sometimes the difference in prices are a marketing ploy and sometimes it is justfied. In this case I think it's the latter.
