Anyone unhappy with the 14 Silverado 6 speed transmission?

I had a 1983 Chevy Silverado with the straight six and automatic with the overdrive. For the longest time the overdrive would pop out when you went up hills and go back in when your were going down hills. CT has a lot of hills. It drove me nuts for the longest time. As time went on, it got better and I kept the truck for 18 years until a deer took it out. I got what I paid for the truck from the insurance company plus the $1,000 rebate due to the gas tank issue. Great truck.

 

I will be using my truck mostly as a daily driver and the little time I used it, the shifting seems to be okay. I just don’t know how these new 8 or 10 speed transmissions are going to handle. Usually I get the low end truck so the update transmissions are usually offered later before the high end trucks get them. Maybe there will be fewer issues shifting with the V-8’s compare to V-6’s. The cost will go up and these truck prices are going out of sight.

Since the new 2014 Chevy Silverado all have the six speed transmissions, where do you feel the 8 or 10 speed transmission would have the greatest benefit for the normal users etc.? Is it worth the additional money? Problems? What are your complaints with the six speeds? I am happy with what I got so far.

No need to apologize. Just letting you know answers are already there. People having been posting for months now about their issues with the '14 trans. While you're waiting for responses look around a bit.

How many miles do you have? The transmission needs some time to "learn" your driving habits. Give it some time if you dont have many miles.
