Mother in laws 07 Tahoe mirror motors only lasted 5-6 years before needing replaced. She was adamant about opening and closing them everywhere she went. You might want to consider times you really don't need them closed as saving a little stress on the mirror motor.

At the risk of starting a riot, I agree there should have been an optional setting to have them fold in with ignition off and back out with ignition on. My GMT-900 didn't have auto-fold mirrors but that's how I figured the settings worked. I can see how it would be a useful feature to some owners, especially those in regular tight parking situations and/or a lot of pedestrian traffic by their vehicle.

I agree the name is wrong. "Wireless/Remote power folding mirror" makes much more sense.

I can not see them ever allowing the mirrors to fold out with the ignition for liabity reasons. In my town the mirror would fould out and take out a biker or get hit by a car. Only takes one serious accident to ruin it for the rest of us.

No folding in should not be an issue but I guess some idiot would open their door into traffic and claim they did not see the car coming because the mirror was folded. I think they will always make sure the driver has to take some type of action to make them fold to help prevent liability issues.

VW, Lexus, many manufacturers already include this feature, so it may have liabilities to some users but i'm sure its not something VW can do but GM can't. Just a silly issue on GM's part in my opinion. I'm gonna keep scouring ebay and mylink forums for a way to get to done "automatically" :)
