Dual Batteries

I noticed on my 5.3 V8 there seems to be an extra battery slot. Anyone running dual batteries?

My 08 had the same tray arrangement. I installed a second batter and used an aftermarket charging relay.

For cheaper dual battery solutions you need identical batteries... BUT you can't buy a second identical stock battery. The AC Delco they put in 2014's is actually a slightly less powerful version than the recommended AC Delco replacement. I did some checking last fall and basically the stock battery is a cheaper version they put in new vehicles to save a few more bucks. They've been doing it for years b/c most people don't check the CCA ratings of a brand new car's battery.
