GM drops the ball on seat belt guides. Really?

my entire angle was safety. 100% and its the truth. they need to be in there for safety hands down. dont tout your 5 star ratings and skimp on something as simple as that...

And I am not ok without rear vents or floor lights lol I can add the lights... the vent ducts though...

What a thing to cheap out on. I get why they ditch floor lighting or rear vents but there is essentially no savings by pulling these. At least with the other stuff they presumably save on wiring, light fixtures, etc. I don't even have kids and I'd be pissed if I had to buy those as now and then I do have friends kids in the back if I get suckered into driving.

Here's a copy of my post with details...Rear seat comfort guides holds the seat belt off of your shoulder. My DC did not come with the rear seat belt comfort guides. Dealer parts guy said the CC models do and was surprised that my DC didn't. I gave him a copy of the pages from the Owner's Manual to show him what they look like. He then tried to order them. They came in with pins on the end instead of the clip needed for the DC (these are the type for the CC). Contacted GM Customer Care through the forum. Jennifer provided part no. 20944862. My dealer parts guy ordered them for me. He also said there is another style with a pin on the end instead of the clip.

I have the part numbers if anyone needs them. completely happy with my truck up to this point, except for this fact. shame $10 is souring the whole thing. Its the principle more than the money

what is the other designed ones part number? and anyone have a pic of it?

i had my nephew in the back of the truck, he didnt complain but my friends girlfriend said she loves the truck just the seatbelt was rubbing her neck and bothering her. its a concern for me because she will be in the back seat for longer rides when we all go out, for a 50k truck i want people comfortable...i dont care about the $10.

yup I sure did, and I got them both paid for by GM. Safety isnt something I hold lightly. But hey, if its no big deal to you why even bother posting here..

I just looked...I don't have them either, and I'm not worried about it. Why should I have to pay for a part I don't want or need? I don't smoke, so I don't buy the smoker's package either.

Patriot I wont bug you for yours since imbin canada...and I bet the dealer gives me them for less than postage would cost, but thanks anyway.

Im looking at the Encore by Extang. Cover looks good. They have 1 thats been on a demo for almost a year and its been holding up good. Hard 3 panel cover that has a lock to open the panel closest tto the cab, the others the tailgate has to be open.

$10 and some change really shouldn't set anyone back to the stone age. My Toyota didn't come with seat belt guides either, so it's not just GM. I'm sure seat belt guides from Toyota would cost $30. I understand the OPs POV, but there are certainly more bigger things to get upset about than a $10 accessory, let alone go off on someone on the Internet about them. Glad you got it resolved.

i think they should be included, and if i knew they were an "accessory" i would have told them to throw them in before delivery and i bet they would, unfortunately it would have been at the dealers cost not GM.

they looked busy in the parts department so i didnt talk to them about getting these parts yet today, ill see how things are when i go back to pick up my truck.

 

FYI - the software update recalls take quite a bit of time, one file is over 2.5 hrs and they are guessing the other file is 30 min to a hour. shop foreman who i know is working on my truck, he said hes going to check a couple other things on it too, no clue what though.

I'm not going to disagree that they shouldn't come with the truck. But if you look at this from GM's perspective, if you can afford a $56K you can afford a $10 part. Keep in mind at $10 a part for 437,000 trucks sold that's a cost of 4,370,000 for GM; a cost GM doesn't need to make with their financial position right now. I do wonder if the other manufacturers include the part with their trucks. My friends 2013 F-150 didn't come with one.

 

Anyway I digress, the OP was out of line attacking patriots credibility; it seems silly to tarnish your repectibility as a poster over something like a $10 part. If the argument is over safety, why not argue, GM should include collision avoidance as a standard item? We're among friends here, really no need to insult people over such trivial things.
