I believe that's an ambient air temp sensor... I guess unplug it and see what happens to the temp readout.

Both of them are, or just the gray one?

Unplugged the black one and nothing changed. Unplugged the gray one and the temperature didn't display anymore.

I'm not getting any power to the plug apparently. Test light won't light up when I have the headlights on.

Didn't have time to fix it today, but I think I found my issue.

When I went to pull out the loom under the truck it was stuck between the trans line and radiator in one spot. Once I saw that I figured that the wire rubbed through or broke there. Pulled it out and sure enough it's almost broken in half.

That is the dirty side. And every one i have seen has it there.

+1 I just did my valve cover gaskets and the drivers side was by far the nastiest. Plus there's way more space on that side.

Fixed the headlight wiring, and wrapped the wires in new loom and tape. Also installed a new Denso upstream 02 sensor, and i have a Denso downstream sensor on the way. The engine light went off, and hasn't come back yet. Truck is running great now and pulled down great MPG on my trip today.

This is awesome. Buying an 06 tomorrow with 200k miles and will definitely be doing some of these things. Keep up the great work brah.

Btw it's insane how your mpg jumped from 16 to 20mpg. Super win.

Finished installing the rest of the new Denso oxygen sensors this weekend along with a new Delphi mass airflow sensor. Truck runs a lot smoother now, and gets good mpg. On another note I had another goodie show up today.

What led you to suspect the o2 sensors were bad? I've tried every last thing I know of to get rid of my rough idle and random misfire. Going to try those sensors next and hope like hell that finally fixes it.

I got an engine light telling me they were bad so I just went ahead and replaced all of them along with a MAF. I figured since I was planning on a tune eventually it'd be best to have all those things working correctly anyhow. Edited by Daryl Z71

So I haven't done anything to the truck for a while, but that's about to change. I ordered a set of Weathertech floor liners for the front along with two rolls of sound deadener. My carpet has a big hole in it and smells so I'm going to rip it all out, and put sound deadener on the floor, and up the back of the cab, and then replace the carpet with new. My extended cab doors also won't unlatch at the bottom so I'm going to fix that while I'm at it. Stay tuned...

My drivers side extended cab door doesn't unlatch very well either. I haven't messed with it yet, so I don't know what's causing it to hang up.

Have you tried looking for door panels yet. Im getting to that point.
