09 2500Hd vs Audi RS 5

Went down to the test and tune to get ready for this weekends bracket race, took along my V2 to data log some runs because they don't allow electronics at the races for the Sportsman class. Well the truck is losing rail pressure on my 230hp max effort tune, at WOT it is about 4500psi lower than commanded.

The run I logged I was still able to beat an Audi RS5, I heard the guy telling everyone how awesome his $70,000 car was with the carbon fiber body and insert pannels. He would not even talk to me or the wife just put his nose up in the air. I just happend to line up with him on the next run, after I beat him he parked his car and walked the other waybiggrin.gif Sorry about the video the wife got excitedwoott.gif

Nice! Why losing rail pressure? You must have built tranny and lift pump to be running that time. Running bigger sticks with stock pump or what?

Nice 60' too, nice launch. I love doing that to old men in sports cars. Makes my day seeing it and ur wifes reaction is priceless

I think either my lift pump is set too low or my fprv is opening at WOT, yes built trans with stock turbo, injectors.

What kind of pump? I have shims in my Fprv as well, that helped a bit. And I have all the PPE rail fittings and what not. I have airdog 150, PPE draw straw, factory filter deleted, shims, fittings and it holds 24.5- 25k @ WOT with maximum pulse width on the stock sticks. I forget exact "us" number, but they are wide open lol. The shim will help you a lot.

Of course, mine is down for the count. Almost ready to pull engine, twins are off already and front clip. Need a day off. She's got a cracked piston.

If I was you, get rid of the VVT!! Don't be like me!! [emoji106]

Just added sig so you can see what I have, I am doing a EGR delete and FPRV shim at the end of the month. Do you not like the S475 over stock? That is what I am planning.

Oh ya, it's great man. Makes 65 pounds of boost, instant spool up, super low EGT's and great for towing. If you ran it under 450hp it would last forever and tows like a dream. My lowest tune made about 45 psi, rob told me about 430-450hp probly. You could floor it pulling 8k and EGT gauge wouldn't hit 1000.

Just have to make sure you run good tuning, don't let the atmospheric pound boost at the VVT with the vanes closed up. In other words you gotta watch barkin that turbo.

As for the fun factor is amazing, even mine on 35's, lift, big bumper all the heavy shit in th back still pull a max effort stock fuel/turbo Duramax. My buddy has an lbz stock height same mods as you and I could still beat him by a fair bit on big tune.

But I was pushing it pretty hard, rob warned me of the big tune he built for me because it was really stretching that engine to it's max. And even then, EGT wouldn't go any hotter than 1250-1350 depending on ambient temp and how long you held it. Light to light it would see like 1100... Just too much fuel for the pistons, I was playing with fire and it got burnt a little LOL. Still made it 130k miles on big boost like that, not bad I think.

If you keep it responsible though, use good tuning and do the proper mods it would last forever. Use SDP or HSP's kit. Another thing I should have done was 40 over sticks, keep the pulse width down a little which in turn give me lower cylinder pressure. I was hangin the stockers open for pretty long [emoji48][emoji48][emoji48]

After I do the engine, it's getting an s3xx in the valley with a blow off.

Ok cool, Scott at SDP does all my work he built my trans and I am about 2 hours from his shop in Port Angeles WA. So when I go larger on the turbo he will be doing it.
