Adding "D" ring tie downs thru bed floor

On previous trucks I've owned, the bed was bolted to the frame thru the floor of the bed. This made it easy to add "D" ring tie downs. The 2014 bed is bolted to the frame from below, into "U" channels spot welded to the bed.

 

Has anyone drilled thru the bed and channel to add "D" rings or other tie downs?

 

I'm looking for ideas.
