Power Coating Chrome Running Boards

has anyone ever heard of someone removing the plastic parts off the OEM 6" GMC Running Boards and having them powder coated? I'm considering if this would even be possible?

That is a good idea actually. Mine already have surface rust on em.. Chinese garbage

They should have a little rough finish if you don't want it to peel. Abrasive powder blast them and then powder coat. Or you can have a plater nitric acid dip them to strip the chrome (and rust) then powder coat them. The nitric acid will etch the surface enough to powder coat.

Those exact running boards are available in powder coated black from the dealer.

  You may have come across this chart before and ironically this is a Toyo printed chart but it applies to all brands of tire types typically sold in north america since they build the tires off of the same standardized guide lines. Page 32 I think is where you will find your tire size and type to use as a guide along with weighing each axle individually to figure out your minimum pressure you can carry safely at highway speed. See what your tire guy comes up with as I would be surprised if they don't have a tool that can do it as long as they know how to navigate the tool to find the right area for placard reprogramming.   Thanks everyone for the help! I'm going to stop into the scales one of these days and weigh my axels, for the time being, I am going to run Toyo's recommendations and also do a chalk test. I have a tire shop that's going to try their scanner to reprogram and set the the factory psi values lower, and if they can't I'm going to order a scanner and do it myself!
