Shuddering while braking?

It disengages it just keeps trying to re-engage. You can hear the tire slipping. I don't think a picture could show the tread wear. It's every other lug in the pattern that it's worn down but just barely. Not sure how this is causing my issues though

Keep in mind that once a tire starts to wear in a set pattern, that will not go away on those tires, ever. The wear you are describing sounds like a form of cupping. Tread that has two levels of tread will be noisy, and will change in sound and vibration during braking, worse with tires on front, under braking.

The diff should not be trying to engage on corners unless you are spinning one wheel. The speed difference between inside and outside tire on a 90 degree turn is almost nil. Be very hard to even measure the difference it is that small. I ran a spool in my 78 ProStreet Mustang with 5.38 gears, 90 degree turns (like intersection turns) would make the outside tire "chirp" or make a odd sounding squeal. Sound was much like you would hear when someone drags a car across the parking lot and the wheels are locked up. Never tried accelerating around a corner, more out of fear than smarts. Also never got caught in or drove in the rain with the spool. Figured that would be suicide a block from home.

The worst side effect of using a spool on the street was trying to do a lane change at anything over 20mph. Car did not want to turn for the lane change, even driving straight down the road, would leave me with the impression that all 4 tie rod ends were very worn. Rack and Pinion steering is usually a very responsive system, but not with a spool. Just some off topic comments that this thread is reminding me of.

its probably tire cupping, my truck shutters when slowing down from higher speeds usually or down hill. Took it to the dealer cause I thought it was brakes, they say the tires are cupping. Cant afford new tires right now, so i deal with the shakes for a bit i guess.

Yeah I guess I will just deal with them cause if I get new tires I want new wheels too lol guess I'll just start putting little by little away for them

I have this same problem as I have now changed the rotors and pads for the 4th time... It can't be all 4 sets are warped as that's what everyone keeps saying "well if it's only happening during braking its the braking system... I have changed the calipers the lines everything... I now have drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic brakes still happens... I have 4 New Pirelli tires about to go on and hope that makes a change but I have read a bad axle can cause this and did jack up my truck and on the passenger rear I do see a slight variation so ordered a new axle... I guess by the time I rebuild this truck sooner or later I will get the vibration out... Anybody have an thoughts or any experience in this???
