2014 Silverado theft deterrent issue

Anyone else have an issue with the theft deterrent yet? I have a 2014 Silverado 6.2l with 900 miles and after I arrived at work this morning I parked my truck. I went to move it and it wouldn't start just said service theft deterrent. Luckily the dealer is across the street so it's already in their shop. I was just wondering if anyone else had an issue.

I remember seeing this, but can't find the thread just now. I believe it was some sort of communication error with the BCM that causes the error. In other words, if the BCM cannot communicate with all of the truck's systems, it gets an error and won't start. The good news is if it is hard falied, as opposed to intermittent, the issue will be easier for the dealer to fix.

Mine did it once, I oulled the key and waited a minute and then tried again and it started. I drove it home and there was the "service theft deterent system" on the dash the whole way. When I got it home I shut it down, waited and started it and the issue was gone as well as the error. Who knows!

The dealer said there is a bulletin on it and it needed a red lash for the BCM. The service manager saw the issue when I brought it in. It seems fine now.

I have less than 1,000 miles on my new '14 Silverado dbl cab & I've had it not start at least a half dozen times now in the last week & the DIC just flashes a Theft Deterrent msg on it & the truck doesn't start. I turn the key back off, open the door & lock & unlock the doors with the power lock button on the drivers door & have had pretty good luck with it starting after that. Sometimes it stays running just fine, other times it stays running & the theft deterrent light stays on until I get to my destination & shut the truck off.

Today was the worst it's been, this far. I had it happen 4 times today, each time it failed, I was ultimately able to get it started, but had to play with it for almost 5 minutes each time to find something that got it to turn over(locking and unlocking the doors, opening the door closing the door, locking and unlocking your steering wheel, etc.)

I haven't had a chance to get it into the dealer yet. I will be scheduling an appt this week, but any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I couldn't even do that I tried all of those and they didn't work. Only with the remote start did it start. The dealers will look it up and see if there are any bulletins. They will find one indicating the Body Control Module needs a firmware update.

Copied this from another thread.

So the updates were all done ASAP this morning at my local GM dealer.

And the update #13257 covered this defect as a reprogram. "BCM Communication Error". I figure it's to do with an engine run signal. Makes sense. Remote start works to get the unit running, but there is no engine run signal so the truck thinks just that.....that the engine's not running, so it shuts off the remote system off, thus shutting down the truck.
