2015 YUKON NOISE IN CABIN

Man...I wish I wouldn't have looked at those pictures. Mine goes in to the dealer next week (again, they had to order the parts) and I am just feeling queasy over this right now. $70k to tear a car apart with 1000 miles on it. @#%&!!!

I didn't observe the repair but here is what they said they did.

They initially attached the first bow behind the sunroof. There was a small improvement.

They then reattached all roof bows and as they described used extra material whatever that means. The dealer decided on their own to add Dynamat. Keep in mind they drove a few vehicles including mine without the headliner and observed the issue first hand so I suspect they had a good handle on what they needed to do. They got permission from GM to add Dynamat.

They ordered a new headliner because they said the original was getting beaten up and they wanted it to be pristine.

The end result is the truck is great. I just drove 1100 miles this past week between San Diego and LA towing a 4000lb generator half of the time and am nothing but impressed with this truck.

Frank - I know they are related, but to confirm you had both the buffetring and pressure issue and it fixed both, correct.

So far, my 2016 does not have the issue. I will be taking it on a 600 miles drive in 10 days and report back to you guys. So far, it is a really nice ride as it should be for the price.

Don’t need a response from anyone else, this is an advancement on this thread and pretty definitive results from elripster. He had buffeting, pressure and droning resulting in the dealer reconnecting all of the roof bows along with using dynamat to fill the space between the headliner and roof. If your truck has buffeting and pressure, your maintenance manager needs to call elripster’s maintenance manager and find out “exact” details what was done to his truck. If you are in the market now or in the future, you have to ensure the dealer shows you a completed TSB detailing the work exactly like elripsters or you should not buy that truck. What was done to elripsters truck prove what was done works, even if the completed work does not last.

Excuse my scepticism, but one report of a fix does not constitute the a "fix for all". We've seen on this forum a couple other examples of someone reporting a fix which is not repeatable by even one more person. Logic says something about that. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad those folks are resolved. But until we see a flood of people saying that a particular fix has resolved the issue permanently, I will remain somewhat sceptical.

Again, we wait and see.

Agree. 2 totally different trucks fixed will give me the confidence to dish out that kinda bread

This may not work for all trucks, the work probably has to be done exact. But for an owner, it's not like elripsters dealer did the work and the truck started buffeting with pressure? Even if the buffeting and pressure returns, it's gone now. Maybe wait in the beginning pages of the thread, but 18 months later and someone said their truck did a 180, I don't see the logic in waiting just because the buffeting and pressure stopped with only one truck?

That response is a tad bit on the rude side, is inappropriate and not needed.

The only way the full force of GM will ever get applied to resolving this issue is for everyone who has this problem, or who has had the problem and resolved it only by means of purchasing a different make/model is to (1) report the issue to the NTSB; and, (2) to the Federal Trade Commission Bureau of Consumer protection. www.ftc.gov/about-ftc/bureaus-offices/bureau-consumer-protection

None of us are GM customers. We are customers of the dealer involved ... all of whom have been pretty much hung out to flap in the breeze by GM.

Hi Ya'll, New to this forum. Test drove a new xl and got sick from the vibration puffing of air pressure . Made sure the windows were up tight. Returned to the dealership and noticed that the rear tailgate glass was not sealed tight against the gasket allowing the glass to move like a "drum". Salesman wanted to change tires and promised to fix the noise. We did not buy that car. Drove to a different dealer and test drove an xl with a tight sealed window. No noise. Bought the car. Drives like a dream...so far.

Hi Guys

Still on the sidelines with thoughts of purchase as are many of us.

I must say that Lockwasher has a point if we had 5- Zips all posting we could have close to 800 plus opinions of people not owning the vehicle and just restating the same thing in their words. Loading this forum with too many opinions from non owners is not the answer.

Great idea if you don’t have one stay on the sidelines as most of us (myself included) and let the people with the problem handle it there all adults and don’t need to have thing explained to them over and over.

Thanks for all your hard word and suffering so we might not have to.
