I have a Magnaflow 14 in. single in duel out. V4 sounds like , feels like HELL! But drive in M5 and throw the coals to it and it sounds MEAN. Gotten a lot of looks and thumbs up. Oh, Did I mention I also have turndowns before the rear axle. Turns the entire bed into a resonator. This is also a fix for the "SNAP, CRACKEL, POP" problem. :driving:

Tried to figure out what u are saying about v4 in your third sentence. Have no clue bud

I think hes telling you that in town you go to m instead of drive it will stay out of V4 which is a fact. Just click to M5 and it will go to fifth gear and not go to 6th gear and no V4. Or you can get any kind of tune, can or custom and delete the AFM. You put an exhaust on it youll swear a helicopter is following you when the V4 kicks in.

Oh ok. Yeah have to admit I laughed at the part about the helicopter bro. Looked and I think I will be purchasing the range technologies item by September to get rid of the afm

Yeah. sorry about the poor sentence execution.

Well...maybe. I have the muffler delete, and the 'copters can't seem to get a lock on me. I guess each to his own. Me, I like my cash right where it is. Safe n sound at Wal-Mart and Kroger.

What can I say? I have 3 kids.

Should have pics tmrw of the look. Not sure yet on 45s or two tips behind passenger rear tire. Trucks a reg cab

but do you still have the flapper in there? Also you still have the factory resonator right? Both the flapper and resonator would basically null out the "helicopter" sound.

Whereas with a new exhaust system (i.e. Corsa Catback). There is no more resonator and no more flapper valve, And the muffler is pretty much just straight through. That means there is nothing stopping that V4 exhaust note from escaping out the back and causing all sorts of annoyance.

Correct, I still have the flapper and resonator on the truck PLUS and additional ~$1,200 in my pocket. Makes me happy.

To recap:

No muffler

Still have flapper and resonator

No drone

No helicopter

Lots of very nice noises from truck when I want

No unnice noises from truck that I don't want

~$1,200 in my pocket to soon spend at Walmart or Kroger

Happy wife

Happy life

Executive summary:

Remove muffler

Save ~$1,200

Be happy.

No wife no kids = do whatever I want.

But ur right cat back systems are not for everyone. Muffler delete sounds mean too.

I just didn't want to cut up the stock exhaust.

What's your thoughts on removing resonator only and just running a nice exhaust tip? Should sound stock correct? With no drone

Posted

Wouldn't be any louder, would probably just change the tone a bit and may introduce the dreaded helicopter. Probably wouldn't affect drone. Personally I think the resonator is a good thing. I wouldn't touch it.

Ok thank you just gonna keep the flapper wired open for now.

I just removed muffler and had the V4 drone, and a vibration in V4. Put in a tune no more V4 and smooth as glass.

I have no flapper, no resonator and a Magnaflow muffler in place the of the stock muffler and never had a "helicopter" sound when in V4 mode.

Are you trying to say it still sounds like a V8 when its in V4 mode? Or did Magnaflow sprinkle some magic dust in there to make it sound different than it is, which is V4.Or does it go silent?
