Bose CD player??

Well, I got (read as: all the trucks on the lot have this, so you can't win) the BOSE sound system [RPO UQ7] and the 6 CD-changer.  According to stuff I've read on GM's tech site, it's possible to replace, but I don't think it's worth it.  Apparently what ya gotta do is if the RPO for the radio is different from the existing RPO of the radio in the vehicle, the tech needs to call and get a VCI number and flash a few things to make it work.  And even then, I'm not sure if all the proper wiring harnesses are in place for that new radio.

In my opinion replace the speakers first it made much more of a difference for me.  Then I upgraded my deck with an aftermarket one.  Now I'm extremely happy!  Of course you do know we are going to all give you different advice when it comes to strereos!  lol

I just traded in my '99 Silverado Z-71 LT for a '03 1500HD 4x4 LT a couple of weeks ago.  The Bose system in the '03 is incredible compared to the "Premium" sound system in the '99.   Go for the Bose system if you are buying it new, but I would definitely go aftermarket if you are looking to replace an existing factory unit.

I just traded my 2001 1500 LT (premium radio) for a 2003 2500HD LT.  It has the Bose speakers and the the Bose radio (and XM Radio option).  The difference is remarkable!  I don't know about the difficulty of adding it to an existing truck, but if you are buying new, it is an excellent option.
