Rear end gears

Is it possible on a 2014 sierra with 5.3 and 3:42 to swap to 3:73 what is required and does that void warrinty?

Yes you can change it. If gm does it, it should not void the warranty. You should still have a warranty anyways. EX your speaker stops working, they wont say "we cant replace this because of the rear end gears". Just change the ring and pinion. The dealer wont know anyways about you changing the gear unless you blow the rear end AND the computer will need to be calibrated for 3.73's. So then you may as well get the BB tune

So my main reason for doing this is I plan in pulling a trailer lot more I feel like it will help with towing.

Yes how about 4.10's with a BB autocal. That thing will pull like you have no idea

Will I get horrible gas mileage when I'm not pulling with the 4:10

No. But you have the 6 speed so it will not be that horrible. Besides the tune will help with mpg so there will be a very small difference if any. And in the city you will gain mpg

Yeah right know I'm getting like 15-16 city and 22 hwy but with trailer drops down to 8 ussually

And it's hard to find a gear it revs up allot

So are you saying get a tuner or take it to a shop and have it tuned.

Contact justin from blackbear. He is on here. Purchase the autocal record driving, email him files, he tunes, emails it, then you upload to truck. So it is a handheld

Also don't forget if you are 4wd you will need gear for both diffs. As said though you will have to be re-tuned to get the new gears to work correctly.

Well, I dont know if there are gear sets available for the standard rear differentials yet. Right now the 3.73s only come in trucks with the tow package that has the beefed up rear diff.

 

Havent seen many people swapping out their 3.42 gears for lower ones yet. Maybe tho
