Just bought a drivers side A pillar handle and i was just wondering if anyone has installed one themselves? i know its supposed to be a dealership installed item but i didnt know that when i bought it and my wife needs it to get in and out of the truck. thanks for any help

just disconnect the battery if you are going to attempt this. and be really careful because you could disrupt the a-pillar airbag and or set it off. Probably one of the reasons its a dealer install item.

yeah didnt know there was a airbag up there and i just got done ripping out the a pillar. didnt set off the airbag but i see there seems to be a sensor or something on the old one. does that need to get transferred?

I wouldn't worry about disconnecting battery. That will only add time. I didn't disconnect my battery and all was fine. From the time I opened the box to the time I had it installed it took me 10 minutes. That's including time to gram the proper sized socket bit for my drill and pulling off the old non handle trim piece.

To install all you have to do is pull off the old piece, then make sure you remove he two clip in pieces from the handle itself so that you can bolt it in so the handle can actually be used.

Edit: I didn't transfer the sensor over as I didn't notice one.

yeah im not sure if it actually was a sensor or it was just a clip. only thought it was a sensor cuz it was black plastic and had some metal pieces inside of it

it was probably nothing

Yea I don't recall that on mine. Probably is nothing though. Did you get the handle on properly?

yeah pushed on real easy then i put the two bolts on tight and put the covers on. real quick and easy job and now the wife can get in and out easily

There is an airbag up near the headliner, but no sensor on the trim piece. That black plastic clip thing, is a tether to keep the trim piece from flying into you if the airbag deploys. The bolts will hold the new trim piece with handle, and the top would just peel back if the airbag deploys.

Best $35 I've spent on my truck.

See I went to my dealer and parts guy said that this part doesn't come up when they run my vin. I just want to be sure it will fit before going through the problem of ordering it and it not fitting my 14 Silverado LT Z71.

It will fit. I couldn't imagine it not fitting. Only thing I would check is to make sure that there are 2 bolt mounts behind your current trim piece. But I couldn't imagine them not being there. I would just order the handle. shopchevyparts.com had the best price that I could find.

Ok just checked it has the 2 mounting brackets behind the trim. Part ordered I'll post up when I have it installed. Thanks for the help.
