In general, how long do you keep your trucks?

We generally keep trucks for about 15 years.  The Ranger will likely be in our family for at least that long if not longer.

We keep 'em til they are planted in the back lot. But, a new one takes the place of the older after about five years or 150,000 miles.  The older ones end up for less elegant duties, or given to a high schooler as a project, or as a desperate point-A-point-B rig, depending on how badly the fenders are flapping.  :nono:

Been using synthetic oil since the 1970s.  I don't dare mention the synthetic brand name since that seems to get beaten to death :)  on these boards.  But, I attribute the synthetic as the reason for high mileage on these rigs.

I normally keep them until the warranty is about up.  Most vehicles are traded with about 20K on them.  However I like the current vehicles in the garage, so I may keep them a bit longer...

Depends on the vehicle.

If "The Truck" comes along, and it makes me the happiest person alive, then I'll keep it until it runs into the ground.

If I get that Blazer that I want, I'm gonna keep it for atleast 20 years.

Personally, I can't stand it when people trade in for a new car every  year (not directing this to anybody), but hey, 15 years from now, I might be doing it, so I won't say too much about it.

All I will say is, if it keeps you happy, stick with it.

I dont know .

This is the first truck that I am paying for so I dont know how long I will keep it .

Most the time we keep our trucks for about 250-300k miles

When we got our 5.3 Z71 back in the fall of 99 it replaced a 93 k1500 that had slightly over 300k on it . My old Dakota is still being used out here and last I checked it (november) it had 260k on the clock

Well this is the first new vehicle I've had, so we'll have to see.  I paid her off in January, but a house will come next before another truck.  I know she's got plenty of miles left in her though.

I usually get bored of my vehicles after a few years, but I've had this truck for almost two and have no plans to get rid of it anytime soon.  Maybe if I get bored of it, I'll have to do something to make it more interesting......(supercharger??)

I have not yet owned a truck.  But I will soon.  I plan on keeping it for a long time.  The longest I have owned a vehicle was about 4 Years.  But I had other beaters along with it.  I have grove all but 2 into the ground.  Only 2 have been my Hyundai and my current Neon.  Hyundai I gave to my Brother and My Neon is too small so I am getting a Tahoe.  I am getting it used but It will be new to me.  I should easilly get 150k miles on it after I get it.  I hope.  I will be taking care of this as this is my dream vehicle.

Well, let's see, I had my first truck while I was in H.S., it was a 96 s-10 reg cab 2wd.  I had that for a little over a year and traded it on the silverado because I had hit a growth spurt from the time that I had gotten it and it was a PITA to get in and out.  I had my silverado for just shy of two years and that was smashed so there that went.

The next one will last a loooong time pending no people deciding to hit me.

Just depends on the truck for me. Had a '95 K1500 Ext Cab for 6 years before it got traded on the ZR2 Blazer which I didnt like very much so I only had it a year before I got my current Silverado. I plan to hang on to this one for a while unless something happens.

Being this is my first truck, I'll let you know when the time comes.  Right now, after owning it for a few years, I can say I might keep this truck till she dies.  I'm looking at a new Audi A4 in a couple years (wishing for the new S4 though)...so the truck will stay but the cars will cycle out every 3-4 years...

I sold my first truck after a year due to getting a pay-cut. Kept my second truck two years before I replaced it with my current ride. Don't see myself replacing this truck any time soon.

I usually kept them about 2 years. I like the truck I have now and the engine has a very long design life. Unless something happends I will keep it for at least 250K.
