Who tows a Travel trailer with the LV3 4.3

I tow a 5,000lb boat but I am looking at getting a 25' Lite Travel trailer with a weight of about the same loaded. I know the wind resistance can become a issue. I would even settle for a 21' but just looking for someone who tows a camper with a 4.3. I have the 2014 double cab with the 3.24 gears that I dislike and I would get a good weight distribution hitch with a sway bar. I received the tekonsha prodigy P2 brake controller today and tow mirrors. I got the P2 because I plan to ditch the surge brakes on my boat and go electric over hydraulic . If someone tows a enclosed trailer i would like to hear from you as well. Thanks

Since it is a double cab V6 with 3.23's, it must be a 2wd.

 

The 2wd double cab V6 is rated for a max trailer weight of 6000lb.

 

At higher speeds, the aero effect on camper will make it pull a lot harder than the boat.

 

You didn't indicate how far/fast/often and in what type of terrain you intend to pull the camper. Don't underestimate the difference that interstate speeds or hilly terrain will make.

He could have also meant 3.42 gears instead of 3.23. A similar typo.

 

If his truck is 4x4 it would be 3.42s which is slightly more towing capacity. Dunno the exact figure off the top of my head.

(In the OM, 4wd (3.42) increases 1500 double cab v6 max trailer weight to 6700lb.)

It is a 2wd with 3.23 gears

mine shows 6700# it's a reg. cab 2 wheel drive 3.23 gears . when I first got had to haul my daughters 2002 crew cab ram to her on a 20' trailer didn't have any problems towed it great . but with my 2000 4.3 Silverado I pulled a 8400# forklift on a 1500# trailer , didn't look to see how much lift weighed till I got it to the shop . would of took a bigger truck if I had known that . it pulled kind of hard but I made it
