I have a '99 chevy Silverado and it has been an awesome truck.

The other day I was leaving for work. Truck started fine and drove out as normal. I got on the highway and went to pass a car and the truck just fell on its face. It is a 4wd, 5.7 liter engine. I thought it was the cat. converters and I had those replaced and the o2 sensors also. DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM.

I took it to my friends garage and he put it on the computer and NO CODES come up. He thinks it is the fuel pump. I'm not 100% convinced that is the problem.

With out throwing $$$$ at it has anyone had a similar problem? and a solution?

Like I said it starts just fine and idles as normal.

Check or replace the MAF (Mass Airflow) sensor, this regulates the airflow to the injection system when the engine needs it. I have an older dodge truck and it did the same thing, I cleaned the sensor and it works good again, Not sure how the GM one looks though. This may not be the problem but it doesn't hurt to try it.

spurgeon8tor - think about it. If you went to a doctor and he told you what he thought the problem was, would you say you weren't 100% convinced that was the problem. C'mon man, your friend has a garage. I wouldn't totally diss your friends recommendation, but I'll start with something low cost along the fuel line first, like the fuel filter.

Have you recently replaced your fuel filter? If so you may have put it in backwards restricting flow under heavy load.
