300 mile gripes and the positives

Well I'm at 300 miles and I have issues,

1. Yes the headlights are not great, head my first issue with a deer today coming around a corner saw the deer until the truck went around the corner could not see the deer to tell if he was on the move,, I know a dead horse, they are fine in the city, I did drive one at night before purchase and I still purchased,

2. No vents in the rear (crew cab) just dumb, guy at dealership told me that thhis is because the prev generation truck had complaints that they weren't warm enough in the front, apparently you could not close the vents like my 05?? I do not know for sure,

3. And this might be my biggest gripe, why is the radio/my link not on a separate dimmer then the dash dimmer, I love a bright dash especially the sweet dash on these trucks, but the radio is to bright and bothersome at night, might be real bothersome when it comes time to back boat in,

4. Well thats just great the stupid lighting in the cabin is horrible, why is there not a center roof light that lights up the cab? the reading lights point at my knees, the rear lights point at there knee's so if i am looking for something in the console, or heaven forbid trying to use it as a desk, forget it,

Now, after 300 miles, shes clicking close to 16 average with a best of 22 mpg, it runs great, rides great and looks amazing!!! I love it even with the small notable issues, at some point I am gonna read up better on the lights and see if HID's are helping anyone, for now I just wanna get my accessory stuff bought and installed,

2. Yes, there are no vents per say in the rear. The vents for the rear are actually located under the driver and front passenger seats; directed to the rear passenger.

3. My dimmer switch dims my radio screen.

Gotcha I didn't know there were vents down there,

The other thing is if I have the heat on vent and floor heat why does auto not work???

Its not supposed too.....you are overriding the system by selecting vent control. I will say its nice the truck knows not to blow air out the vents when the truck is cold on a cold day.

I have the double cab so I guess the 2 LEDs in the center of the cab lights it up better than the Crew cab. I haven't had any issues with the LEDs not being enough lights. You can also turn all 4 on to light up the whole cab with the lever type switch by the LEDs in the center of the cab.

Do you have the GMC? My Silverado LT has great headlights, they're not the projector lights, just regular. I did want to switch them out with the LTZ projectors, but I changed my mind.

your gripes are everyones gripes. the floor vents would be better if they didnt exist, and ive never had a vehicle i had to turn the dash lights almost all the way down. but here we are.

My dash lights dim with a little slider wheel next to the headlight/4wd knobs.

I have a silverado also but haven't had any problems with headlights and I drive two lane roads through areas with lots of deer at night all the time. The fog lights light up the ditches pretty well and I use my brights if there are no oncoming cars. I think a lot of people who complain about headlights are just mad because they can't do 80 at night on a curvy two lane and feel safe.... the only time i feel like i can't see well is when an oncoming car has obnoxious lights or their brights on...and i don't think we can easily blame that on the silverado headlights!

Well my experience was in a 30mph zone, I was going about 25 because I know the dear are there, and I came to a stop, just about because I couldn't see if they were on the move, my 05 would c this area easy, at the end if the day I'll get used to it and just hammer down if its meant to be so be it, I do love this thing, can't wait for April to strap the boat and c how she pulls

Auto light feature doesnt like HIDs even with running a relay straight to the battery.

I too feel the radio is to bright at times at night. I have to turn the dash all the way down and the radio is still very bright. Ive often gotten a headache when driving for long periods at night. Or could this be the shitty headlights? Hmmmm.......

I am surprised there is not a setting within the radio, it is what it is I guess, dome lights to dim radio to bright, still awesome

95-98% of my fishing is at night from April through October, I fish almost every single week during this time, usually fishing by myself most of that time and I've rarely run into an issue backing the trailer in from glare of the nav/infotainment screen(s). My tinted windows cause more of an issue backing the trailer in than the screen/glare itself. I have the black background chosen. The other backgrounds are WAY too bright. I back the trailer in using my side mirrors more so than anything else, with the windows rolled down. The glare is a problem when it's raining and the windows up. I may be old school though... I can't stand the backup camera, it's useless with the boat hooked up. I've also changed to LED tail/brake lights and they are so damn bright they produce way too much glare from the tail/brake/reverse lights. And if it's been raining, at night, trying to back up an empty boat trailer, it's a freaking mess from all the glares.

But like anything else, you'll get used to it and make self adjustments.
