AlphaTherm Heated Wash

I had the oem unit on my '07? I think, when GM made us take them out a year or so later. I bought the aftermarket AlphaTherm unit then (08-09?), and while it wasn't a good as the oem unit, it did the job good enough. That same unit was transferred to my '11, and also my current. '14. No issues. Don't remember the model number but I'm pretty sure it was just two wires to hook it up. I just went to their website and I'm fairly confident it is the AT-38OD, as the AT-37GM unit is just for the old trucks that originally came with the oem unit. It warms up quick enough, and is needed almost every week as I live in a valley and I get a glazy/icy windshield all the time.

All trucks were with the 6.2L if it matters.

 

GM should really put these back in as an option, along with the great rainsense wipers that are gone now too, because normal people couldn't understand how they worked, or didn't work, when ice built up over the sensor.

I don't believe it does; I believe the integrated processor looks at a lot of variables and then regulates temp as needed.

I also don't recall the heated wash system on Lucerne/DTS or the GMT900s being switch-controlled...

My 08 had an OEM heater. It was cycled by a button on the center cluster. The cycle consisted of a warm up, spray & wiper action, and wiper only, in a series of 3 cycles.

I stand corrected on that.

 

In any case, I've reached out to the manufacturer and am exchanging my OD model for an ODi with the third lead, so I should still have this installed sooner than later.

You do need the AT-38OD or ODi models, depending on whether or not you want to install a switch. The OD model does keep the fluid warm at all times, which uses more electricity than the switch-controlled units that GM installed OEM. The warm fluid is helpful in most conditions (whether it is getting ice or bugs off) and hasn't caused any problems for me, so I don't mind it, but on the other hand I see the point in having a switch-controlled unit...

 

The AT-37GM is for those who had Alpha Therm units removed by the dealer under the recall (it has factory connectors).

 

After reading about them I think I would need the AT-380D
