Any ideas

I have a 2008 silverado with 69k on it. Last two days it has been 5 degrees where I live. Occasionally, when I take off or let off the gas there is a clunking sound coming from the front driver side tire area. I am no mechanic but I'm trying to have an idea what possibly could be the problem before I take it in to get looked at. There is no ice build up or anything around the wheel wells. Thanks in advance for your help.

You need to check your upper control arm bolts to make sure they are tight it sounds like you might have some movement in that area.

Check everything...ball joints, control arms, hub bearing, tie rods-inner & outer, axle shaft (CV joint), u-joints. It could be any of them or a combination of them.

Oh boy. That sounds expensive. i was thinking possibly wheel bearing or control arm busing?

Just take it in , road test WITH a tech or shop Foreman or service manager

Could possibly be ice or snow packed somewhere. If you've recently had an alignment I would suspect loose upper c/a bolt.

Just had this on my truck. Jack up the front drivers side and try lifting the tire up and down if it moves a lot most likely a wheel bearing. Costs about $150 for wheel hub assembly and only takes a couple hours to do it yourself
