Leveling Kit + torsion bars

Recommended Posts

I have a 07 GMC Sierra 1500 with a 3" leveling kit on it. I'm thinking about cranking my torsion bars also. Can I do that or will it mess up the ride really bad? I've also been told that if I crank my bars now with the leveling kit on I will get bad air flow to the engine. Any help would be appreciated :help: .

Air flow is the least of your worries. With it already 3" lifted in the front, then additional cranking will cause your front suspension to be under greater stress from the sharper angles. You're going to start wearing out ball joints and axle shafts.

3" is a lot already, i wouldn't do anymore. Do you have blocks in the rear too? I leveled mine, but only 2.5" and the ride changed significantly. You also have to worry about pinion angle with that much lift. What is the reason you want to go more?

No blocks in the back. I'm trying to make room for bigger tires without having to drop a grand on a lift kit. I had someone else tell me that they had coil spacers on the front of their Silverado and were going to add another 3" of level to the front with a 1.5" in the back. Are coil spacers a possibility?

Torsion bars or coil springs I don't think you have any room left to go without an actual suspension lift. I've done a 2.8 on a coil spring suspension and it was a PITA to get everything back together, so adding to 3" seems impossible to me. Not to mention the stress on the front end of your truck.
