Swatbwana Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 i have a 2004 denali c3 I would like to know the feasibility of swapping a 6.2 drivetrain into it from a newer denali 2007 and up, do I need the newer 6 speed or will the 6.2 bolt up to my tranny and would I need a custom harness?
oldscsc Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Swapping from a Gen III to a Gen IV engine is a lot of work. You would need everything from the new truck, and probably some custom harness work as well. For the money, you're far better off upgrading your current powertrain. Cam, intake, gears, head work, boost...depends how crazy you want to get. I'd hazard a guess that all of those options would be cheaper than a running 6.2 with trans, and WAY less work.
Swatbwana Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 Hmm, that's what I was thinking, so I will get a newish 6.0 and possibly lightly boost it, my truck is hitting 200k rebuilt front rear diffs tranny went trough tranny it looked very good transfer case rebuilt , will look at a lower mileage 6.0 and some modest mods, I drove my wife's denali 2008 and love the response and sound from the 6.2 the tranny was awesome as well. I guess a 6.0 with the proper tune would be just as good with mods a little better.
Chris Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Just build rebuild your 6.0. You will be better off and if you bore it about .020 and stroke to 4" you got yourself a 408 ci or 6.7L
Swatbwana Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 I like the 408 idea what kind of hp/tq numbers are they getting with a street tune and a good exhaust.
Chris Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Built mild and tuned conservative about 425-450 HP. probably like 475 tq
Swatbwana Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 That's impressive been looking at 3.90 and 4.00 stroker kits since your post.
Chris Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 4"x4" gives you 402 ci. Stock is 364 ci. Boring it to 4.020"×4" is what i recommend just so the cylinders are resurfaced gets you the 408 ci.
