Quarter Window Warning

Just thought I'd let everyone know about my eventful day yesterday. I was driving down the road minding my own business, doing maybe 40 mph., and the rear door glass on the drivers side just explodes. There was noone going past in the other direction and no chance of something being thrown from the side of the road. I called around to price the glass and was told it is quite common for these pieces to just break when open and at highway speed. The price of this little window is about $300 installed in my part of the country. Luckily I called the dealer to ask if they knew anything about sudden glass detenation and they are going to warranty it even though they say that it is uncommon for this to happen. Sorry to get long winded but thought I'd let everyone know. Personally I'm sealing the windows shut. ???  :flag:

ps.  As I pulled to the side of the road I drove on the snow bank that was hiding a culvert and wound up with the right front about 4 ft into the ditch and the left rear 4 ft  in the air. My son pulled it out with his 98 S-10 much to the surprise of the fire dept that showed up along with the sheriff and the rescue (not much to do around here). :flag:

Quarter windows are part of the reason I steered away from ext cabs. I had them on my 99 GMC and had trouble with both sides even after the replacement.

I had mine replaced under warranty because of the

faulty latches. Now I don't even open them anymore. I'm affraid to touch them. :flag:  :flag:
