girth Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 Is there anyway to program the fog lights to go on when you turn the headlights on? And pushing the doom override switch 4 times gives me control over the headlights for the time being, but the next time I crank up they come on on their own? Am I missing something? thanks for the time and help...
Wingnut Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 I don't think there is a way to "program" it that way. There are kits available to make all 4 headlights come on when using your brights, and/or enable you to keep your foglights on when using your high-beams. I agree that hitting the dome override to turn off the lights at night is a PITA. I am thinking of paying a visit to Radio Shack, and correcting that little annoyance.

BlackSilver Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 Is there anyway to program the fog lights to go on when you turn the headlights on? Uh, why would you want your fog lights on everytime you lit your headlights? And foglights with high beams?

Uh, why would you want your fog lights on everytime you lit your headlights? And foglights with high beams? Because some people think it just looks cool... ...And they don't give a $hit about blinding you and me. As for me, I just want positive control of my own lights....When I turn them off...they go off. When I turn them on they come on. Regardless of where the sun is in the sky.

My '03 has a gives a lot more lamp control than my '01 did. You can pretty much over-ride all the automagic stuff.
girth Posted March 25, 2003 Author Posted March 25, 2003 Yeap....I'm mainly looking for the "cool factor!" Seriously, I would like to have control over my lamps. Pisses off when I want something to work and it doesn't and vise versa. Adding to that the doom override button. I wish I could have the lights go on when I open the door and not when I take the key out.....I know, just leave the key in till I'm getting out. But soemtimes you forget, like last night when my neighbor saw me putting my glock in my gym bag before getting out (cool neighbor, luckily and he didn't freak out) thanks for the threads...some ideas there
BlackSilver Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 .... like last night when my neighbor saw me putting my glock in my gym bag ..... Bwahahahahahahahahahahaha! We're all impressed ...... NOT!!!
girth Posted March 25, 2003 Author Posted March 25, 2003 yeah, BlackSilver go on and be a D$CK. I was just using that as a point of reference, that it can cause a privacy problem if your not paying attention.
MountaineerTom Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 girth, I like to have my fogs on all the time too. The 27 watt fogs are not the brightest lights around, but they do help light the sides of the road up a little more. I have the R&D kit that turns the fog on when the lights come on. I've never understood why people always get their panties in a wad of driving with fog lights on when it's not foggy. They are not that bright as to blind someone, unless they are knocked all out of wack, and they don't work that great in fog from my experience with them, but when the lights are on under normal conditions, you can see a little more. Hmm, imagine that!

Hmm, imagine that! I normally don't have a problem with it, but as you say...When they are out of whack. Or when they have a billion candlepower bulbs crammed in there. Couple one or both of those, with someone who has HID bulbs in the headlights, and the kit keeping all four lights on...Not to mention cranked torsion bars (without headlight adjustment)...I agree, it does look cool, but it just isn't safe for other drivers. OK, I will get off my box now.
MountaineerTom Posted March 25, 2003 Posted March 25, 2003 Yeah, it could be bad depending on how the vehicle is set up, but with stock bulbs, I don't see how it could be much of a problem with low and fogs on. Mine fogs are not set up to be on with higs and lows together, but I do have the high/low kit and it's bright with all four on. But I also don't run them that with all 4 on with on coming traffic. I did have my '91 set up with a high/low kit and the driving lights all on when the high beams were on, and it light the road/side of the roads up great, and of course, I was responsible enough not to run them like that again with on coming trraffic. With both vehicles, I've never been flashed by anyone when running the lows and fog/driving lights on at the same time. Even with my body lift on my current truck and not headlight adjustments.
TheScaryGuy Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 saw me putting my glock in my gym bag I perfer a ruger myself.
'02 Sierra Denali Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 And I for one, WOULD like to have the fogs come on with the regular lights. Complete with the fog light turn OFF switch that the factory installed for me (backwards).
girth Posted March 26, 2003 Author Posted March 26, 2003 I love shooting my Ruger (sp101 357, don't like the autos...don't want to start a p!ssing match, but I've just never liked the feel of them when I shot one), but for carry I like my G27 (Fits great in my cargo shorts pocket). Sorry mods, off topic I know...
