Having electrical issues with my 2008 Silverado. Lights dim when brake is applied, sometimes the clock resets to 12:00 and the air conditioner resets to 74 degrees after shutting turning the truck off. Sometimes after shutting off it will not start and has no electrical power at all. If you let it sit long enough it will start. I have had it to the dealer 3 times. First time they said I had a loose ground. Second time they replaced the Body control module. This last time they could not find anything. As soon as I left the dealer it started again. So far I am out over 800.00 dollars with no fix. Getting a little frustrated.

davisroger61 - how long has this been going on (probably since lower temps?). Saw a similar issue on a buddy's truck. "Cost" to fix was closer to 200.00 dollars, parts and labor. The "alternator belt" was cracked and loose causing the "alternator" not to effectively charge the "battery" resulting in the battery slowly loosing it's charge. After he replaced the belt and battery, he found out the alternator may have also been damaged and replaced that too. Truck worked fine after this. One more thing, check your belt tensioner and ensure the pulley is in good condition and it is securely mounted, this may increase premature belt wear.

 

Change your belt and this may fix your problem, if your battery is still good with appropriate cold cranking amps and the alternator wasn't damaged by a faulty belt. You should charge the battery if just changing the belt. Good luck man, cheap simple fix if it works. If it does work, definitely change dealers.

You keep going back and getting it fixed till it's fixed , you've already paid for no reason and should be reimbursed as its still not fixed , call customer service , get mad etc
