I don't know if this matters or not, but 1998 radio's don't fully support the mute feature required by Onstar. If you need that, it might not work properly. Otherwise, the radio's are identical.

I'm on my second GM vehicle and have had no problem at all with the stereos.  Only had a problem with one speaker, but the stereos themselves I like.  Only reason I'm going to change is because I can get one with a CD Player for free (my current one is cassette) and it installs easily.  I lke my GM Stereo.  I just wnat some aftermarket speakers to play it through.

Well, we got the GM CD/Radio in Elwoods Blazer today, but it wasn't out of a '98 Blazer.  It came out of a 30th Anniversary Camaro and was an exact fit, in case anyone needs/wants to know.  The only thing different was that the one out of the Camaro didn't have the little fan on the backside of the unit.

Looks like it came that way...wait...umm...nevermind.  :)

How about this one?

I just bought two box peakers to put in the extended cab of my 99 Sonoma/S-10 and I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a wiring diagram so I know which wires I can tap into and send to the back of the truck to hook them up.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Adam

Elwood has a Haynes manual that covers that year S-10 truck/blazer that has some wiring diagrams in the back of it. You might try contacting him to see if he can get any info from it to help you. The head unit swap was pretty easy, but when it comes to wiring and stuff like that, I'm not much help.
