99 5.3 problems

Hey guys, I've got a couple of issues with my truck. When I first take off in my truck in the morning it will bog almost to the point of stalling, then after that it's fine. It also seems when you accelerate slowly, around 1500 Rpms it seems like it will bog a little then pick back up again. I know I have an exhaust leak, which brings me to another question. Some people say the 99 vortec has iron heads, others say they are aluminum. So can I weld to the broken studs? One stud is broken off level with the head and I was planning on building up the stud with the weld and welding a nut to the stud, can I do this? But anyways I would really like to fix the bogging issue. I think it's something with the computer but I'm not sure. Anyways thanks
